Ritual. Do you have one?

I have my 'getting weighed' ritual first thing each Saturday morning. i.e....

.... shoot, shave, shower, shampoo, scales - in that order.

I've done this ritual for ten years and I notice over time the scales must be weary and wearing out.
The reading will vary EVERY week. Dunno why! Mebbe I should invest in a new one!

Do you have a 'Ritual'?

I'm so jealous, Ann.
I wake up (with alarm) at 5.55, go downstairs (loo is between living room & kitchen)
Put kettle on, go for wee, make a cup of tea (without milk at weekends as it's easier to drink cold), go back to bed, put radio 4 extra on, fall back to sleep listening to a story.
During the week, the alarm then goes off at 6:30. Drink tea. Go back to sleep.
Alarm at 7:00. Get out of bed at 7:15, make another cup of tea, have shower, put on basic make up, sit on sofa and drink tea, with fag.
Make lunch, feed cats, make cup of coffee.
Drink coffee with fag number 2. Put rest of make up on, clean teeth, get dressed, pack bag, go to work.

Not so much a ritual, just a way of waking up and dragging myself to work!!

At the moment. I'm waiting for the toddler next door to stop crying - it's been an hour - surely his parents must relent!!!!

Grope my way to the loo, make coffee, feed cat, sit & watch Breakfast while I drink my coffee & have a couple of fags.
Then shower & dress . Am then ready for whatever the day throws at me.

So important to have a routine or ritual as we get older. I now hate weekends because it throws me out. Same with holidays.

And I am absolutely dreading retirement in December :-( When I am not posting inflammatory posts on Genes, I will be watching Bargain Hunt and Jeremy Kyle :-( :-(

So hope I can get into a ritual - up at 4am, wee, walk, breakfast, take pills, drive in my new Aston Martin Retirement present to myself), wee, other bathroom thingies, read papers, lunch at Celtic Manor, wee, round of golf, afternoon tea at Celtic Manor, wee, drive home in AM, short siesta, wee, Cardiff for theatre supper and show, wee, check budget for how I have managed to do all that on £200 a week pension, bed.

every morning.......

wake up
groan
open eyes
peer at side table to see if OH has left me a coffee.......if he has, drink it.
if not
groan again
stagger downstairs
fill kettle & find coffeepot & coffee while waiting for kettle to boil
pour boiling water into coffee pot
YAWN
wait for a few minutes
push plunger down
get mug
pour coffee
go outside & sit in chair
drink coffee while listening to birds wake up
YAWN
wait for body to catch up
go back inside
pour another coffee
go back outside
sit in chair
repeat last three until body is ready to move

variation........ if OH has left me a coffee, drink that, then stagger downstairs and go through the rest of the morning ritual

(Almost) Every Morning for last 28yrs....
7.30am : Awakened by OH who has prepared my 1st coffee of the day and serves it to me in bed before he pops off to work
Almost? Whenever he is not at home (like today).. eldest daughter has assumed responsiblity for coffee ritual.

Jealous anyone?

EDIT:
Anyone else notice that almost all our rituals involve coffee?

Mayfield

Mayfield Report 2 May 2013 11:48

Usually woken about 9 by a nubile young lady with coffee (two Viagra no sugar) and breakfast in bed.

My bath is run by several more young ladies who also see to any other requirements I may have.

A quick blast around my private track in one of the supercars, (today it’s the Lambo) helps to blow away the cobwebs.

My helicopter is ready by then so I pop up to the stables in it to see how the old thoroughbreds are doing, then onto the private jet where I log on to Genes while the stewardesses serve me champers. Can get a bit distracted by them but bravely try to stay focused on the forum.

After a spot of lunch in Paris or Rome I toddle back around four and play a round of golf on the private course, retiring to the clubhouse after with my caddies Tracy and Samantha (or is it Kim and Olga this week?) for a debriefing.

After that the day is pretty much my own
