Agree, a nine year old. Hardly a groupie.

Stuart Hall had a room at BBC i heard, where he' entertaned ' women, in the afternoon. Not sure where the nine year old fits in here.

It seems he was another one that was pretty blatant at what he was doing, that nothing was said. Similarly, J. S.

Sex - the problem since Adam & Eve, wearing their birthday suits, were ejected from the Garden of Eden for nicking apples. There was some speculation in the godly tabloids that a slimy slithering snake was implicated.

If we are to believe 'The Good Book', they had a spot of bother with one of their offspring too.

I think it is accepted that some young girls have always liked to follow celebrities and there is nothing wrong that. This does not mean that they should be used as a target for sexual abuse. I find the term "Groupies" used by some people almost an acknowledgment that these young people were compliant with the the actions of the abusers. What I find totally unacceptable is that it is overlooked, that the abusers were ADULTS and their perverted and illegal actions were against CHILDREN.

@ Dermot. Adam & Eve were both adults.

I dont doubt that during the pop idol cult of the 1960s --1980s many under age sexual entounters took place,,these havnt brought any charges against their abusers, perhaps they have no axe to grind.?

some would have laid down their lives for their idol.

Its those that bring a case thats the important aspect,,,,,they feel wronged and have every right to be heard and bring that grivence to the attention of the proper channels.

PP a read up perhaps?

My daughter once the court doors are closed stays until she calls the next witness and swears them in,,,,,she doesnt leave the room to conduct other duties,,,,,,,shes on call thoughout the whole hearing.,,,,,,,,she is the first person anyone including any legal team see and converse with,

in my post, I was speaking generally, from my knowledge of the 60-70's

I wasnt actually referring to Stuart Hall in particular, HIS case is something Else.

but no matter whether any accusation is proved, or not,

if accusations are made and it gets publicised..........mud sticks, forever!

I mean, we ALL know that ALL rock musicians are always stoned out of their minds, their best work was done while in these conditions.......

Dont we?

There has just been a fascinating interview on Radio 2, with The Independent's journalist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, saying how the investigation of Stuart Hall started by her receiving a letter from an anonymous woman a year ago.

Here is the link to the article she has written in The Independent..

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/how-i-exposed-stuart-halls-sex-abuse-yasmin-alibhaibrown-on-the-letter-that-kickstarted-the-investigation-8601517.html

Something Yasmin said at the end of her interview on Radio 2, should make some men thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Since her taking the letter to the police, and Hill being arrested, she has received many vile letters from men, saying that she has ruined a lovely man's career, and that she should have ignored the letter!

I wonder how many of these men would say that if it were there daughter or wife, who was raped, or abused, or maybe the men who wrote to her, are the same men who think to o.k to abuse woman, or maybe these are the same men who actually do abuse, and think it acceptable, probably.

Kay???? Report 3 May 2013 14:38

I read Yasmin Browns report,,she needs bloody praising not condeming,,,,,

lovely man,,,,,,,is in the eye of the beholder,,,,,,

there is no doubt he has been a much liked tv person who brought laughter into thousands of homes,,,,,,,,,,but there within lay a dark secret and its these type of people that make it seem all the worse,,,,the more these people are made a public disgrace the better chance of young innocents spared from their grubby seedy clutches.

They ruin childrens freedom as they make parents paranoid to who is lurking out there.

Sharron, I agree with what you say (10.47 today) - When I was on jury service a number of years ago, the case was very similar to what you describe.

I am absolutely appalled at some the comments made on this thread, it has made my blood run cold .

Sexually abuse of a 9 yr old and he admits it what other bloody angle could there be.

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 3 May 2013 18:28

I am not in the why do they report but more in the why didn´t they.
Taking aside the reports that are never going to reach papers ie those from the general public not the stars that are going to reach the papers.

I can understand not reporting at the time, and the worry about not being believed.
I can also see what the police are saying that by naming these *stars* they could and are bringing out others who have been abused who wouldn´t have before.

Before Stuart Halls name came out there was more than 1 accusation against him
William Roach has 2 claims against him both by the same person. a 15yr old.
I have to ask what was a 15yr old doing there alone. ?? and did she tell she was 15

I am now waiting to read about all the everyday people who have been accused so that others can come forward.

Lynda I will also say that abused children have been believed for quite a few years now and although I wouldn´t take away the believe of the agony of an abused child I do have to ask why now, when it´s a known name that they are accusing.

~Lynda~

~Lynda~ Report 3 May 2013 18:47

Me to Hayley, the thread is about Stuart Hall, a man who is charged with indecent assault, he has ADMITTED he is GUILTY to indecent assault At his court appearance, when asked what his plea was, he said he was GUILTY, FOURTEEN times. He is an Opportunistic predator, and will sign the sex register.

So why are there some, who question, about people who aren't guilty?

Uzzi, it may be better now than it was, but believe me believed hasn't been happening for quite a while. As for why name stars are named, probably because the victim knows there name, most abusers are nameless, maybe when they abused, they didn't leave there names.

The more excuses we make for these people the more they get away with it. I don't care if someone goes to the police, 50 years after they have been abused, good for them.

We have to STOP making excuses for these people, what they do is wrong, full stop.

What he's done is despicable ...have read the link.
To groom a little girl like that is awful and scars her for life.how did he get away with that for so long?surely someone would have reported him!

Bob....What I was saying about musicians, and certainly not rock bands ,(I was in a jazz band) never saw any drugs used in my time , but some girls threw themselves at the lads in the band.
I know this as I was there and affected by it.

No way was I suggesting that children under teenage were groupies, and not all groupies were chasing the lads, but I remember a certain famous man with a group of young girls draped all over him.was disgusted at the time and kept well away.

There have always been some men easily led by praise and hero worship.
The period Im talking about was 50's early 60's

Hope at last that these people get their comeuppance ..albeit late!

When a man was named in the local papers other victims came forward. He was a teacher.

He's in prison now and will be for quite some time.
