Mums 'Bonfire Soup'. :-0

So named as she made it to eat after watching the fireworks around the bonfire in the back garden. It was one of those thrown-together recipes which wasn't written down.

I am researching the Wotherspoon family from the Old/New Monkland areas of Scotland, some moved to the Leslie and Kelty areas of Fife and I'm having problems linking the Wotherspoon's from Leslie and the Wotherspoon's from Kelty. I am also researching the Clusker family from Co. Meath in Ireland who moved to West Lothian and from there to Fife............"Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est"

WE always had a "proper " Xmas tree event tho it shed its pines after a few days.

On Boxing Day .after dinner, we picked the tree. Was very exciting to have more pressies after the glow of Father Xmas had gone.

I would spend 2s.6d on each of my siblings for tree presents. would be box paints and colouring books. or a magic trick game etc etc depending on their ages.

I miss smelling a REALChristmas tree ....hmm don't seem to be able to get one that smells like years ago.

And of course I miss my childhood Christmases ,didn't have much but it was exciting ,not the same anymore with comparing my grand-kids that have sacks instead of stockings on the mantle !! :-( .......... little dears don't know what they are missing.
