Having read comments on the boards here and elsewhere I am confused.
Never having been in the position of having a post "Reported" could you please advise for my and, apparently others, how are members notified when Genes remove a posting after it has been “Reported”.
Is the member informed as to:
The fact that their thread has been removed, referencing the specific thread, or does the poster have to try to remember which threads that they have participated in and check all threads to see which have been removed, and try to remember the content of that particular post
Which specific term(s) or condition(s) they are apparently in violation of, or is the notification of a general nature, leaving the individual at a loss as to what they apparently violated, thus putting future postings being put at risk of being removed for lack of clarity of what is/is not permitted.
What penalties the face if they repeatedly are in violation.
Any appeal process they can access to state their individual case.
On the flip side, if there is a pattern of malicious reporting, are sanctions levied against a member who for whatever reason continues to “Report” for whatever purpose.
Is the member whose thread has been “Reported” advised of such, and the reason for the report, and subsequently notified as to the outcome of the review.
Thank you for any consideration you give to this request

both the reporter and reported are informed via email that the post has been requested to be reviewed ( RR or reported) and either it has been removed or they have decided this time the post can stay, they will tell you which thread its from and what day it was reported I think, and if you have been reported a few times then curb it or else, no you cant appeal it

example of what you rec' if YOU report
"Dear
You recently requested a message board response for review giving the reason Other .
After considering your request we believe the content to be unacceptable and outside of the terms and conditions and message board guidelines of the site. This content has therefore been removed."
example of what you rec if you are reported
"You recently added a message board response using your Genes Reunited membership.
It has been brought to our attention that the nature of this posting breaches the terms and conditions of our website and the item has now been removed from Genes Reunited. Here's a copy of the posting in question: >>>>
Please be advised that this email now serves as a warning as we consider the report to be in breach of our Message Board guidelines and our Terms and Conditions. Should you receive 3 warnings in total we will permanently remove your profile from Genes Reunited.
We thank you in anticipation of your co-operation and adherance to the terms of your Genes Reunited membership "

Wording does seem to depend on which member of the Support Team sends out the message.

When a post is RR'd the person who RR's it has to give their reason, once submitted the content of the thread/post will be removed and replaced with the words "This post has been requested for review"
Then GR will check out the details/content and if they think it breaches T&C or the board guidelines they will remove the thread/post, at that point they will inform the reporter and the offender
The reporter will receive an email to say they have removed the thread/post and the offender will receive a warning which will vary, only GR no which warning they will issue they seem to vary and appear to have no logic to the severity, GR do NOT say which thread or post but on occasion they will send a copy of the content and which rule/T&C they think you where in breach of
If they feel the their is nothing wrong with the content then the thread/post will be reinstated but to the best of my knowledge they don't inform either the reporter or offender of that decision (but I will stand any correction to the last part)
penalties range from a threat of a ban to an actual ban
malicious reporting is supposed to carrie the same penalty
GR refuse to comment on any thread/post that has been reported to either the reporter or offender
GR decision is final and their is no process available for members to object,

and yet another version of an email that you get from GR if a post is RR'd ...........

--------------
it does not tell me which post on which thread was actually removed, so I can only guess at which one ..................... as I had several RR'd over the weekend due to what I can assume was maliciousness. Most were reinstated.
I have also occasionally had posts removed but no contact from GR to tell me so.
That always puzzles me as only GR or the poster can supposedly remove threads or posts. :-)

I have had the occasional post removed, and several threads.I have never had an email from GR to let me know (a) that the thread or post had been removed; and (b) the reason why they have been removed. The first thing that I have known about it is when I see the posts or thread gone.
Margot.

I've had 2 emails this morning from GR telling me that posts have been removed ..................
they named the thread on which the post appeared, copied the post in question, AND told me the reason for the removal.
what a change!
I question the reasons, and have asked for an explanation.
Unfortunately, I have only just looked at my emails as it is quite early here, but that means that it is out of working hours for GR, so I will have to wait a day to find out!
