Most nights when he does still eat at home,Sausage Sandwich Man, rolls out to the kitchen to remind me that he wants "small". After all,the elderly only have small appetites.

The cafe he visits is renowned for huge portions. I can't eat their veggie breakfast so order an egg and a veggie sausage and hash browns because their garnish of mushrooms and tomato are big enough to be portions.

Today,His Lordship ate an entire Special Breakfast.egg,sausages,rashers.baked beans(about half a large tin),grilled tomatoes (they sometimes serve six grilled halves),mushrooms, with fried bread and complementary mug of tea.

Tomorrow it will be the sausage sandwich and, later, fish and chips.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Sharron! I always used to get "Eeh! I couldn't possibly eat all that, old people only have a little appetite, you know! Only to find a clean plate in double quick time.
Have you tried looking in his pockets?

Oh dear no! There are places I will not visit.

He had a demented girlfriend who would hide food in places. I once found a roast potato in the food bowl.

When mom was in the nursing home she would hide all sorts of food in her handbag. We used to find pork chops, tomatoes, chips and toast were all stuffed in her bag if she didn't want to eat it. We used to buy handbags from charity shops and just throw the others away with the food. Mom would also say " I can't eat a lot but would wolf down a dessert or two in seconds. :-D

Fred has always been a cantankerous old git who liked a sulk when he couldn't get his own way.

There was one incident we enjoyed particularly when he was having a sulk in the kitchen when I had made a steamed pudding.I offered him some and he reacted like I had offered him incest. That,in itself, caused a bit of amusement.

I carried on serving up the pudding for OH,me and Fred's mate and we sat in the front room quietly eating ours and trying to keep straight faces while we watched him creep across the kitchen trying hard to look indifferent and help himself to some.
