In the eyes of the Americans he can do no wrong....

He's a star whereever he goes, I love the way he is so natural with children, no pomp with him, he just gets down to their level and talks with them. He will make a wonderful uncle for Wills and Kate's baby and hopefully in time a marvellous father to his own children.

Diana would be so proud of him, taking up causes that were close to her heart as well.

Joking aside, he is a great ambassador for this country and for the charities he supports, and he has so many of his mothers characteristics :-)

Perhaps Michelle is eyeing him up for a future son in law ;-)

Certainly he seems to get on very well with people wherever he goes - just like his mother. So natural and pleasant.

But, it has to be said, he is more 'real' than the last generation of 'royals'

Having lived in the US for a short while, and then in the neighbouring country for many years ................. we get all the US news, from the US angle. We have watched their response to visits from the Royals for all those years.


The fact is that the Americans love the Royal Family, period.

They go ga-ga when the Queen visits (perhaps visited is now the better word)

Loved Prince Philip ......... they love his "sauciness"

fell all over themselves when Will and Catherine visited in the summer after their wedding


etc etc


Part of it is the American love of pomp and grandeur .........

.......... despite the fact that everyone is declared to be equal under the Constitution, there is no doubt that there are 2 main classes, the extremely rich and the rest ........... and even the very rich love brushing arms and breathing the same air as the real grandees of the world.

Even "lesser" Royals attract a lot of attention when they visit ............. and are quite literally often "used" to raise money, hopefully for charities but that is not always certain.


Having said that, I am not denying the very real attraction that all the "senior" Royals have to the Americans, and have to agree that this new generation of Royals is more human and down-to-earth.

Plus, William and Harry are undeniably more attractive than many :-D

I loved the way the Countess of Wessex (Prince Edward's wife Sophie, so warmly and tearfully hugged the designer of the memorial to the Bevin Boys last week. She was visibly moved and so natural when she hugged him, it was lovely to see.
