What country do you think has the best flag design ?

Mayfield Report 12 May 2013 16:35

What you mean after the English one? :-D

GHeather Report 12 May 2013 16:42

Mayfield, the one you consider to have the best colours/design. ;-) :-D

Joeva Report 12 May 2013 16:44

The Union Flag is the best designed in my eyes...... so beautiful combining the flags of the Uk.

GHeather Report 12 May 2013 16:51

That old Japanese flag was pretty cool, but was replaced after WW2. I'm not saying it was the best, but very striking with bold colours!

Rambling Rose

Rambling Rose Report 12 May 2013 17:02

The Stars and Stripes...

followed by the Irish Tricolour ( The flag, as a whole, is intended to symbolise the inclusion and hoped-for union of the people of different traditions on the island of Ireland, which is expressed in the Constitution as the entitlement of every person born in Ireland to be part of the independent Irish nation, regardless of ethnic origin, religion or political conviction.)

but I also like the Welsh dragon :-)

Bobtanian Report 12 May 2013 17:07

skull n crossbones..........
bland but realistic!

GHeather Report 12 May 2013 17:09

A few flags have different shapes.

AnnCardiff Report 12 May 2013 17:22

The Welsh flag of course - and that is not featured on the Union flag - also like the Canadian flag

UzziInSunshine Report 12 May 2013 17:33

My first reaction was the same as Bobtanion ...the skull and crossbones that I used to fly.
There are many interesting flags out there Gibraltar, Kiribati, Mauritania and San Marino.

BUT my vote because of my love of dragons goes to the Welsh flag.

GHeather Report 12 May 2013 17:42

Interesting replies, thanks for posting. :-)

Frederick Report 12 May 2013 17:45

I don't think much of the South African flag.

Looks like a pair of Y-Fronts.

F. :-)

Dermot Report 12 May 2013 17:47

Joeva - The UK flag is incomplete according to those in Wales.

Joeva Report 12 May 2013 17:54

I take your point Dermot, but originally it was the red cross of St George that represented both England and Wales.

GinN Report 12 May 2013 18:45

I rather like the Canadian flag, with the maple leaf - simple but bold.

GHeather Report 12 May 2013 19:53

I agree GeordieinNorfolk, a good design! :-D

AnotherCanuck Report 12 May 2013 20:41

Thank you to AnnCardiff, GeordieinNorfolk & GHeather for your kind thoughts & words with respect to our Canadian National Flag.
I too think, it was well designed with simplicity & boldness, covering our vast Country from sea to sea <3

Our flag was designed by George F. G Stanley & John Matheson & adopted as our National Flag Feb15th 1965.

Dermot Report 12 May 2013 20:57

There are some interesting & eye-catching Province Flags of Canada.

GHeather Report 12 May 2013 21:30

I think I have a few Heather relatives in Canada. :-)

GHeather Report 12 May 2013 21:31

It's interesting to look at ALL the flags of the World... :-)
