Very good programme and wonderful to see the Lancaster bomber flying over Lincolnshire.
Also humbling to think how brave those young flyers were, and in those days they were without the excellent equipment planes have now.

I watched it with interest,A late good friend Maurice, taught Gibson how to fly the Lancaster,and my Father was a WW2 fighter pilot,when you think that most of those young men were only in their twenties and some younger,they were( in my opinion )Hero,s all. and should never be forgotten. **M**.

what annoys me is in the films they are always portrayed as your average public schoolboy types when most were ordinary(should be extraordinary) working class lads

Ah terryj but there was always the Sam Kidd character or one of the other actors you see in those films and think what was his name? Who was there for light relief whilst the ruling classes did the important work of running the show!

True about the RAF crews always being portrayed as officers and public schoolboys.
In fact on the raid itself, of the 133 men who flew, 50 were officers and 83 were non-commissioned.

But that's show business for you.
