I cringe when I read some newspaper reports and in fact, have a hot line to our local newspaper editor who appreciates me sending him bloomers ( spelling or grammar), from the online newspaper. We have become good pals lol with him sending me a Christmas Greeting and such, and asking after my health etc.

I don't think things will ever be as correct as they were in my days of schooling. I think it is because a lot of teachers used to say the content of an essay etc was more important than the spelling and grammar so let the kids get away with shoddy stuff.

My Father was a proof reader (or reader/revisor is the correct term) for the Daily Express and one of my brothers was the same for the Financial Times.

Nothing like having one of those two checking my school work :-(

Wonder if they have proof readers for the Beano & Dandy ?
