Huia Report 2 Jun 2013 04:24

Hello Liz.

I am very sorry about your holiday that isn't. I might be able to get away for a couple of nights occasionally, soon, as our cat is on her last legs. I am taking her to the vet in less than an hour to be put down. We think she has kidney failure. She must be 19 or 20 years old. Peter came up yesterday and did some odd jobs around the place, then dug a deep hole ready for when I bring Chloe home. He had to get back to Rotorua to do some jobs on his own place this afternoon as he has arranged to go climbing Ngauruhoe and Tongariro again tomorrow (Queens birthday holiday.)

BTW, I will have some spare cat food if your OH's father wants to come here to collect it, plus a bag of litter that I bought yesterday. I wont be needing to use them. Maybe my daughter or granddaughter could use them though.

Oh dear Liz, I have just been reading all that has happened to you these last few days. I am so sorry things have turned out badly because I know you were counting down the days to go off to Crete once again. What an awful thing to have happened. I just hope that the car driver is fully insured and that your OH can claim all that he is entitled to after suffering pain and such a shock.

I was thinking that you and your OH were wining and dining and you had the lovely big bedroom all to yourself that you were so looking forward to and now everything is far from right for you.

I do hope that your OH makes a good recovery and his Father improves too.
My brother in law is in hospital with a stroke which the doctors have said is because he has had the wrong Warfarin medication for far too long??

It is all very worrying as my hubby also takes the Warfarin medication. I thought this was meant to lower the risk of strokes??

I really hope things will improve for you very soon Liz..... you deserve better.
Take care Gxx

Huia, if it got me away from the miserable git I would come and fetch the cat stuff myself lol (I wish, where's that lottery win?)

He's so bored - he's not one for reading a book or much else, only watching tv and that palls after a while.

He got me driving him about since the accident saying Oh it hurts to drive but managed well enough to go round his Dad's yesterday altho he had only seen him on Friday evening, so he can whistle for a chauffeur now!

He's still in a strop about the currency costs and now says it's the last time he will think about going abroad, if he is going to get ripped off! I have given up trying to explain how it works and that he will be able to claim the difference back on the holiday insurance. I think I will have to work on him very hard when it comes to booking a new holiday.

I think by the time his thumb has healed and he goes back to work, I will be at the funny farm, he's a nightmare to be with at the mo. I can see me skedaddling off on lots of solitary errands when I get the chance lol

G, thanks for message and pm. I am so sorry about your brother in law and hope he makes a good recovery. My own cousin who is on Warfarin has to have more check ups as her levels are going wrong now so her dosage has to be sorted out asap. I never realised what a problem it could be as medication.

It's good that this week is supposed to be sunny so maybe I can get out and about and get a bit of colour on my skin anyway.

Bye for now folks

Oh don't tempt me lol

O.h's son is coming to Norwich today with his wife and daughter and 'new' baby, now 11 weeks old and already 13 lbs. We will be meeting them this afternoon - it will be the second time we have seen the baby, we went when he was five days old.

It will be good to see them all again and might put o.h. in a better mood lol

He went and cancelled the new bike ordered when we thought the driver would be paying, and he is waiting to hear what needs doing to fix his old bike which had the wheel damaged and the brakes on that wheel, by the car.

Not very happy days ahead methinks Liz, have you considered ear plugs ha ha.

At least the sun is shining and maybe your grumpy OH will be mellowed having his son and family for company today. Enjoy cuddles with the baby, take care now Gxx

Oh Liz, I have only just caught up with this, so much do do in the garden after our holiday. I can sympathise with your disappointment at cancelling your holiday, it is something we look forward to so much and it was so close too. So sorry to hear about it. I only hope that, when you eventually book you have super weather and a great holiday.
I am sure that, if they charge the man he will have costs put against him for loss of your holiday plus all the things that were lost or damaged. I don't suppose it will include the change in exchange rates, and unfortunately the rate against the euro went down during May. (I know that as it affected us a bit too.) But to get most of it back will help and save you claiming on your holiday insurance.
I hope his thumb heals quickly and that meanwhile our good weather continues so that you can get some sun at home. :-)

Thanks all, he's already driving me bananas! Keeps asking what forms do we have to fill in like it's all going to happen tomorrow, we have to wait for the No Show letters after the 15th June so no rush to send claims forms off yet. His b.i.l. gave his details to one of these No Claim No Fee type companies in Manchester, so they keep ringing, I told them to back off and if we want to use them we will contact them. Stupid b.i.l. Even f.i.l. suggested using similar company to get money back from driver for bike and disappointment over holiday etc etc It will all take time tho and no idea yet if driver is being prosecuted so must wait to hear about that first.

We had a lovely afternoon with o.h.'s son and d.i.l. and children, the baby is growing fast and is a dear little chap, and granddaughter is full of beans, and very funny. We met in the city centre where there is a green area close to the Castle Museum and a play area for children. She had us all at various times playing with her, kicking a ball, or throwing a frisbee - Come Here Gangan she said (Come Here is her latest sentence) and then when he got tired she would come over to me and pull me off the seat and say plaintively, Nanny? so I got some exercise too lol

My son hadn't seen o.h.'s son for years and had never met his wife or seen the children so I suggested he pop down to see us which he did. It was lovely to see him make a fuss of the baby and play with E. She could say his name when we told her but kept saying Come Here John, when he sat down, he spent quite a while playing with her and she loved it, made friends with him almost immediately altho she had never met him before. We have no idea why she kept calling him John tho. As he left we said say goodbye to G, but what came out was Bye John lol Such a little character, she will go far I think.

It was lovely and sunny and bright but the wind was really cold. I am hoping the sun will keep shining and maybe the wind will be less strong so it feels more like summer. Today I am planning to be lazy but might suggest we go out tomorrow somewhere for a change of scene.

We seem doomed not to meet up, Marilyn, it's so long since the time we met up so I hope you will be in Norwich sometime this year - would be great to see you again.

My friend is over from Germany next week for a couple of months so will spend some time with her, she has a lovely apartment overlooking the river in the city centre. She has fm too so knows my limitations altho she is 13 years younger lol

We didn't get to Wroxham yesterday, did a couple of errands and it was too late and the wind was chilly so came back home again.

Planning time out today tho if the weather stays bright. Strange how I have to do the driving cos it hurts his knee and thumb but when he wants to go to his Dad's on Sunday morning, he can drive himself. Mind you, gives me a few hours alone so not all bad lol

Hope your blood tests come out ok Marilyn.

Take care

I hope that you are practicing counting to 10 Liz?

I was hoping that you could at least escape into the garden and enjoy the sunshine while it is around right now. Not as nice as Crete, but a bonus nonetheless.

As your friend is visiting perhaps you two could enjoy some girly time together?
It's good to chat and maybe your OH will disappear and allow you to have some special time with her on your own.

Try to keep calm!
Sending hugs to you just now. Gxx

Thanks G, my friend will be here after the weekend altho she will have her husband with her for a few days, when he goes back I can go to her lovely apartment and chill out or we will go out together somewhere. He likes to have her full attention while he is here, he drives her over so she has her car here but he flies back and then flies here again later on to drive her home after having a few days here first. He owns a Nursing Home in Germany so can take time when he wants.

The sun was lovely all week but such a chilly wind, we did get to Cromer yesterday - I had to drive both ways so a round trip of 50 miles - but he said next week he might feel more like driving (bet he manages to drive to his father's again on Sunday morning tho like last week)

Today the wind is cold but there is no sun to help warm the day so I will just do some errands later on and stay home the rest of the time.

Hope things are ok with you and your hubby

hugs to you and all my pals

Thanks Les, might take you up on that , but not at the mo as he still needs some help at home, his thumb has to be strapped up straight if you get me so he can't use it easily. His knee is still swollen too so he is limping as well, I call him Jake the Peg lol

I am hoping to stay in Buckingham this summer with my cousin so will let you know when the dates are arranged.

I want to visit Gt. Tew and Deddington? where my gt. grandmother lived before Gawcott became her home.

Stay well

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 14 Oct 2013 00:16

I am really peed off!

As you know we lost our summer hols cos of o.h's bike accident and then I had a week with my cousin but it was not really relaxing, she is very demanding. There were some good bits but it was hard work and I didn't have a minute to myself except when I slept.

O.h. has two weeks off work. When I got back (and before I went away), he had said he didn't want to go away as he has a lot to do in the house and garden, then when I had been back a few days he changed his mind and I spent hours online finding a nice cottage to rent at Sheringham which is only 25 miles away but would have been a change of scene and somewhere we like to spend time. I would have been cooking as usual some of the time but at least would have had a bedroom to myself and some peace and also could meet up with friends there to have time to myself. He could have gone off for some walks or just lazed about getting some rest, he has been working long hours lately because of new machinery going in at his works.

On Sunday, he went to work for 6 hrs from 6am to help finish an installation of the new machinery, he did 12 hrs yesterday too. Afterwards he said he would go and visit his father as he usually goes on Sunday mornings and sees his sister and b.i.l. there too.

I stayed awake when he went to work and sorted out warmer clothes etc ready for packing, then went to bed. We were supposed to go away on Weds and I had a million and one errands to deal with on Mon and Tuesday as he had taken the car to work all last week when I got back, because of the wet weather.

Anyway he woke me up at 4pm when he came in, to tell me he had smashed the car up. Poor little Fiesta, it's a lovely little motor, very reliable and we have had it 10 yrs and only about 49000 on the clock.

He had come out of his Dad's and switched the engine on, the car lurched backwards (he must have left it in gear) and he smashed the boot and rear window by hitting a tree on the verge where he was parked. He was shocked and upset so his father brought him back here so that (his father's idea) I could go back with them and drive the car home, with polythene over the rear window and a smashed boot that wouldn't close. They had driven it into his father's garage but wanted me to bring it back here. Well I am sorry but waking me up like that and telling me I had to drive when I was feeling very rough myself due to the fm and cfs just wasn't on so I said to leave it where it was till morning when he could go round on the bus and pick it up, after talking to the insurance people first. He could only get an emergency no. Sunday and it wasn't worth going through all that as it wasn't an emergency.

I have had to contact the woman we were renting the cottage from to tell her we may have to cancel altogether if we don't get a courtesy car, or if we can be mobile, postpone the start of the holiday till Thursday or even Friday.

The forecast is more rain and I really don't fancy trying to do my errands when I will get soaked walking to and from bus stops etc. Also I needed to move some things to a new storage place so this will probably stop me doing that yet and I will have to change the finish date I had arranged.

Oh life is such fun, Not!

Roll on next year and new holiday plans, hope they go right then I need rest and warmth! Thank heavens it was at least nice weather when I was away in Bucks.

Oh dear Liz you are not having a lot of luck with holidays are you.

I learnt early on to always keep my foot on the clutch when starting the engine, after lurching a car into the bench in the garage many years ago. Not that I normally leave it in gear but these things happen. A bit mean to wake you and ask you to go and drive it though.

Hope you can get a courtesy car so that the holiday need not be cancelled.
