Bees not seen many in my garden so far this year

Its been on tv and the media about the falling numbers of bees, and there seem to be varying opinions as to why and if this is a problem or not.

When i have been looking round my garden recently, it came to me that a plant that was ususally smothered in bees, had none, so this has now reached a very worrying state, imo.
Was wondering if others had found this or not. I live in the South.
Also, should the government or whoever is responsible, act to do something quickly,

Hello Sue, OH and I were only saying this morning. I have just gone into the sun-room and a Bee flew in and back out again.

Have quite a few around here (Sussex) but not as many as usual, but they do say that there is a problem with the Bee population deminishing . :-(

There seem to be two lines of thought here. It could be some sort of pesticide that is banned in all EU countries except for us. But the manufacturers of the said pesticide say its probably not that. (well, they would.)!
Also the very wet weather.

Paula and Merlin, thanks for your input. Paula, i hope its not the only one you see this year.!!!

Lots of them here (west midlands) all on the borage in the sun :-) but I am concerned as reports far and wide suggest the bees are in decline. My local MP raised the issue with the relevant minister, "more research needed", but needed quickly!

They need to do something quickly, we need the Bees more than they need us. One thought from a professional Bee keeper was that they tend to move the hives around (Orchards Etc) far too much and a lot of Amatuer Bee keepers no too little about deseases and Hygene.**M**.

I saw one this morning and said to hubby that was the first I've seen this year. Not looking good is it?

Sue OH found a Bees nest in between the inner and outer pantry wall this morning. He has checked  to make sure they can't get into the pantry so we will leave well alone.

Paula, oh dear. Not a good place for a nest. Be careful. :-)

I have bought some wild flower seeds, attractive to bees and butterflies, and scattered it all over my pots in patio and cracks in stones. Have been signing petitions for some time now (I think the Co Op) are interested in the environment, as it is very worrying. Without bees the planet will fade.

We've got a cherry tree in flower and we've never seen as many bees on it as this year. They were there last night until it was almost dark.
