Every time I click on hot matches (from the home page), I get the 'Error will be investigated' message. Im also having trouble sending messages some days. Thought it was just my laptop but now I find out others are having these issues. Admin, can you look into these problems please. Ive been with Genes for 7 or 8 yrs now and theres always something going wrong.

Hi, I have been having problems for months, Error message when I try to get onto some threads being the worst. I have seen other threads asking GR to sort things, when I contacted them about the error message they answered that they didn't have this problem, suggested it may be my computer so I tried my laptop and my son's computer, got same problem on them all.
I think quite a few people have left because of all the problems, a lot of names I don't see now.

Hope you manage to get things sorted.
Take care and stay safe. Jean xx

Might be better to remove "hot match" facility till it is sorted. Just a a waste of time having something that basically tells you nothing useful.

And I still get messages from Genes saying I have 3 posts I have not opened. Well, I have opened all posts. And a little bit irritating.

Perhaps remove all these naff facilities till programmer has sorted out how they should work.

I was having the error message yesterday when trying to go to My Threads .

Very annoying when one wants to double check or add something :-(

they say that "They" cannot replicate the problem..Practically every time I post to a quizzes thread I get the timeout error message

they've probably got a lightning fast bb service which does'nt cause them a problem........

In order to replicate the problem Genes needs an account that has a tree containing at least 30000 people, to have made 20000 posts, with many on big threads, and to have sent and received hundreds of PMs. I am sure they would get some errors then.

Interesting about your matches with no tree PP. Are the matches with you, in which case it must be assuming a default tree with you as the root person.

What Genes site are you using? I was getting errors on the co.za site but the problem resolved on co.uk.

Ken is right, although his figures may be a bit exaggerated....!

The error message appears when the GR server is taking too long to process the action that you have requested and times out. It is largely related to the amount of data that needs to be retrieved and processed. So selecting and sorting a tree with 5,000 names causes no problems, but if there are 50,000 names then expect it to grind to a halt.

It is rarely linked to the particular activity which is why 99% of members may see no problem so when they try the same action with their data set it works ok first time.

Every now and again, it appears that GR techies 'tweak' the system - usually when the number of complaints rises - and this gives some respite.

However a long term solution probably involves spending serious money on upgrades, which is probably not cost effective given the relatively small number of members affected.

PS My errors usually happen when sorting and filtering Names Summary and Sent Messages.

We would all love GR to fix all the errors & problems they have on the site, but it may take longer than we may like, as they are a little busy at the momment, trying to change things that don't need changing like the name of membership packages etc.

I've taken to using the snipping tool and sending an attachment to support as to show them what I'm talking about.

Seems to be working - though they are launching the new search facility soon with the updated interface. They say they are busy dealing with it which is not the ideal answer
