I've recently joined as a standard member for 12 months. However, I am confused - I note I had been given 50 credits, which are already down to 35, from my research.
My question is - what makes me different to anyone who purchases credits on a pay-per-view basis? For the money I spent becoming a member, I could have purchased 200 credits!
As it is, I am merely 'a member' with only 50 credits - what is my advantage to being a member? I was under the impression that as a member I could do as much research as I wished, but now it appears I will still have to buy credits when I do any research.
I know being a member entitles me to send messages to other members and view other trees, but for pure research of the available records, should I have ploughed my money into a pay-per-view purchase instead of a membership?
I simply cannot see what 20 quid buys you as a member! :-( :-0 :-| :-S

It is always best to purchase a subscription as credits can get eaten up very quickly.
I am just a standard member on here...but I have a subscrition to Find my past and ancestry
I was given 50 credits when I renewed this year...and tried them out and it was 5 credits to view a person in a census, then another 5 to view the whole family
So 50 credits would only last for 5 searches
So for £20 you paid you will not get much...my ancestry and FMP cost £250 a year

Scroll down to bottom of page and read the Terms and Conditons - section 6 Membership Services and Fees
I believe the 50 credits are freebies.

Also do not use your credits to view BMD's unless you have to
They are free on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl from 1837- 1960ish
