Well I'm glad to see your all doing something having had a break myself I am now back to the grind stone Lyndi I can understand your frustration I used to use the Mormon site before I bought a cert. and now find it's all changed and not as easy as it used to be, unless I'm looking in the wrong place.
Maggie what your doing sounds really interesting keep saying must do something similar but don't know where to start are you writing out everything into books ?
Lynda I'm back doing a bit each day not getting very far as I'm now doing all the bits I couldn't find before ie Irish?? though just recently found my g/m and her 2 siblings birth in the Irish Church Records...Great it certainly encourages you to go on.
And what are you up to Sue?....no excuses please! :-D

Sue, I can't find the index I want. There was a newspaper record about a police officer, who I have now confirmed as my ancestor and I would have sent for the article, but now cannot track it down :-(

Edited to add: have been on google, apparently there were two different sites - the one I was looking for no longer available and someone saying they thought the site owner had died :-(

Spent last evening, with 11 year old grand daughter sorting 'willed' stuff from my mum (via gran) in to 'pre-war', 'war' and 'post war' boxes.
Also had boxes for random photo's, greetings cards and just plain 'randoms'. :-(
However I realised that within the various categories, I'll have to do the stories of those I know.
My parents and brothers came to England on the Empire Windrush.
To some, that means one thing. But there was another story - it was a troopship!! Need to explain the history of the ship (originally German) to get the reality across :-D

The site that Lynda has put on is the site for looking for criminals/police records in the uk..

Just changed the home page.

Thank you Lynda, but I don't think that's the one.
If it is it's changed a lot - the one I used to look at had lots of old newspaper records and police records.
