DazedConfused Report 28 Jun 2013 20:22

I was the person accused of being racist for using the very well known term about organ grinders and monkeys.

And I was always called a little tinker when a kid if I was naughty or cheeky. Far worse if very bad!!!!

:-D

AnnCardiff Report 28 Jun 2013 20:23

I just knew you were a little tinker - could tell by looking at your last avatar - written all over your little face :-D :-D

AnnCardiff Report 28 Jun 2013 21:28

Joy has put up a thread on names for children - interesting and funny

MarieCeleste Report 28 Jun 2013 22:23

My grandfather's brother in Ireland was a tinker - lovely man :-)

EDIT@ 11:15
I take offence at someone taking offence at being called a tinker (tongue firmly in cheek)

But, tinkers did provide a useful service - from Free Dictionary

tin·ker (tngkr) n.

1. A traveling mender of metal household utensils.
2. Chiefly British A member of any of various traditionally itinerant groups of people living especially in Scotland and Ireland; a traveler.
3. One who enjoys experimenting with and repairing machine parts.
4. A clumsy repairer or worker; a meddler.

CupCakes Report 29 Jun 2013 07:59

Wakey, wakey, rise and shine. Wish I could stay and chat but the cup cakes are winking at me in my kitchen and I've got to get my act together - hope after all the effort we raise some money.

This thread has turned out a real funny read :-D :-D - will have to wait until later before can respond to any of it. Toodle pip for now

AnnCardiff Report 29 Jun 2013 09:46

I told you, NS really did put this thread up to get a laugh, she more or less has said so now.

I was going to call her a pickle, but thought she may report me for racism to Pickle people the world over, so I won't do that.

Can't stop I'm off to have tea with The Queen, serve a banquet for 400 tonight, got some mates coming over, then I have to go and save the world, my work is never done ;-)

I am truly an inspiration to Mankind...not bragging or anything, just saying :-D

MarieCeleste

Well actually Lynda, I think you're a bit of a shirker - you mean you're not doing anything about world peace today? :-0

(Awaits an RR by the shirker race)

Never judge pickles lest you be judged a tinker.

Can't stop - off to bake a cake for when Nick Clegg comes to visit later to beg me to go to his party.

~Lynda~ Report 29 Jun 2013 10:15

Not only am I doing all that today Ann, I didn't mention this, I felt that would be showing off, but since you've asked.....

I'm also at Glastonbury tonight, I'm backing The Stones, one of them, not saying who, has had a bit too much of the hard stuff last night, and his voice ain't none to clever, so, as always, I'm helping them out, it' happens all the time with them boys, so I'm not surprised.

I'm also off to Silverstone, they've said that Lewis Hamilton's car isn't running right, so have asked me to have a look, as always, but the real reason is they want me to replace Mark Webber when he goes, not sure I'll be able to fit that in though, what with Wimbledon, the Boat race, Arsenal, and everything else, but will try to help out as you do, that's on top of me making the christening cake for Kate & Will's baby !

Marie, World peace is tomorrow afternoon :-D

LG, sorry about that, but as my husband comes from Pickledonia, I thought it'd be o.k for me to use the word, how wrong was I ;-)

Can't stop, must dash have the ironing to do before the helicopter picks me up :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 29 Jun 2013 10:16
