I was thinking that I could chuck the crumbs on the garden and they would either be eaten by birds who were none too discerning or would disintegrate quite easily.

Pellets that you feed young chicks or ducks etc. Surely they were more expensive. ;-)

I went to the mill today to buy some wild bird seed. While I was there I asked if they had any cat litter They did but the man in the shop was telling me that a lady who runs a cattery buy chick crumbs to use as cat litter.

I bought a sack to try this time and, if anybody is interested, I will let you know how it goes.

It does smell lovely.
