Cooper... I think your friend must be at a Curves gym the same as me. The workouts are about 30 minutes but you certainly feel the effects after. Pleased to hear you had a good holiday and I hope you have a good weigh in too.

Hayley Happy Birthday for yesterday. I know exactly how you feel. I am an all or nothing girl and this is why there is not much in my fridge! I can't just eat one or two squares of chocolate I have too eat the whole bar. It is the same with everything sweet. Good luck with the buffett, try being one of the last in the queue to get your food and eat slowly so that it lasts longer. I know, easier said than done.

Lynda...where are you? Hope you're okay

Well done Shelley on losing your holiday weight. I don't expect your friend goes anywhere without her clothes so she can always hide the excess skin and still look slimmer and feel healthier.

Lost about a pound this week. Went back to my TaiChi - Extend on Tuesday. Not able to do all the movements as I hadn't been for seven weeks.
Hope to do (slightly) better next week.
Meanwhile I will stay positive.

Hope you had a Happy birthday Hayley and were able to eat just waht you wanted at work, without anyone getting on your case.

Shelly, you have done really well..
I am heavier than you at the moment, but trying to get down to below 11stone (Just below 10 would be super - but perhaps not realistic).

Well done to all you Slimmers.

I'm joining you!

I wriggled & squirmed my way into a pair of jeans this morning, I hadn't worn them for a while.

Big deep breath........ got the button fastened.. ...... let the breath out.... and the button popped off!

I'm not getting on the scales, it will be too scary!

It's getting towards the end of winter here, so I'll soon be eating less roasts etc, and more salads soon........ I hope I can fit into my summer clothes.

I'll read through the thread, see if there are any magic tips :-D

Cooper Report 10 Aug 2013 07:08

Well done Shelly and Tess on your losses.

I put on 1lb when I weighed today but I have been on holiday and normally put on a lot more.

I'm a similar weight to you Shelly, I started at 11stone 10lbs, lost three and a half lbs between March and June and then started the Zoe Harcombe plan from home. I'm now 10.11lbs. I had lost the whole stone until this weeks gain.

Its been slow but has kept off until now. I will keep going as I feel so much better than I did health wise.

Hayley I gave up bread and cakes and sugar. To start is was so hard and I was like a bear with a sore head. I work shifts and lived on a diet of bread and carbs especially on a late shift for the last 32 years!. There are always goodies at work, either given to us or bought in by staff and I never used to resist! I love cake but once I start I cannot stop. Buffets were also my downfall

When I gave up bread, cakes cereal and biscuits a strange thing happened. The stomach cramps which I had for years and years, suddenly stopped. I had put this pain down to everything from IBS to pre, post and during time of the month pain. I also had lots of joint pain in arms legs knees etc. and this stopped. Cravings for food were always present and the more I ate the more I wanted and felt hungry all the time. I still have back pain due to a prolapsed disc but the rest stopped. When I did eat wheat, a couple of weeks ago all the pains started up again and the cravings. I think that my body really doesn't like wheat and I must have some form of intolerance to it. For a cake and bread lover this is hard but without it the weight loss has been good and the pain gone.

There is a book which I haven't read but you can see extracts on line called The Wheat Belly which seemed to make sense of my symptoms. Its worth a look even just as a bit of research :-)

Have a good weekend everyone,

Teresa

Good morning lovely ladies.

Cooper my sister has IBS and she avoids bread, yesterday I had 3 sml triangles of tuna on brown as I had made them I knew there was no salt or butter on them 3 black grapes and a slice of melon I got from another team buffett ;-) didnt even look at the sweet stuff. :-D Cooper working shifts must play havioc on your digestive system years ago Itsmytelly worked perm nights and he ended up with an ulcer. He works shifts now and his intake of bread does concern me.

Dame Shelly that is some serious excercise you do well done :-D

I have money and vouchers to spend and with all the sales there can not be a better time to have lost weight. so you can guess what I have planned for today :-D

PollyinBrum

PollyinBrum Report 10 Aug 2013 10:00

Hayley I also have IBS what I eat is not always what I would choose, but I know the consequences if I eat the "wrong" food.

Well done everyone every little loss counts towards your ultimate goal. I am just trying to maintain my goal it's not always easy, I have exercise but I enjoy it anyway.

Today I have done 165 Squats and 40 seconds Plank Challenges.

Hello skinny people :-D

Bet you thought I had deserted you, well I haven't. I was working in London, helping our tourists around Town, for a couple of weeks, had a wonderful time, London is so busy with tourists, fantastic for the economy :-D

Weight wise.... Can you believe, I have walked a couple of miles a day, at least, and eaten what I should, but have maintained the same weight for 3 weeks, although I have lost inches, so not all bad I suppose. This week I am keeping a record of everything that passes my lips, so the consultant can look to see if there is something I am eating, that I think is syn free but isn't. As I feel better, and clothes fit better. I'm not distressed about it, but must say when I went on the scales thinking I had lost a few pounds, but didn't I was pee'd off, but have gotten over it now.

Hope you are all doing better than I am, will look through the thread a bit later to see your progress :-D

Well done Lynda as you say you have lost inches, and all that excerise may of turned to muscle which tend to weigh more than fat :-D

Weigh in week three for me today. Only lost 1lb so a total of 4lbs in 3 weeks. Quite disappointed really as I have been good plus I now go to the gym twice a week.

I am out for lunch tomorrow and Friday. To morrow is a buffet with lots of cold meat and salads etc so it should be okay as long as I keep away from the puds!

all those squats Paula!!! wow!!

I'm off for weigh in this afternoon - 8th week - nine and half pounds gone so far - let's hope a few more today - we'll see

apparently watermelon is a good fruit to help lose weight so I ate nearly a whole one yesterday - nice to start off with but felt a bit sick towards the end :-D :-D

Cooper

Cooper Report 14 Aug 2013 22:39

Hayley Its the convenience of bread on shifts I think> All the shift workers I know seem to live on sandwiches especially on a late shift or nights. I'm not surprised Itsmytelly got an ulcer. Years ago in the 1970s my Dad worked nights but it was in a factory with a canteen which served a main hot meal at break times. He didn't seem to have any problems but didn't live on a diet of bread like I used to. I don't think the workplace have facilities like that any more.

Well done with the Buffet Hayley :-D We were at a wedding at the weekend and my self imposed alcohol ban came to an end. We had a brilliant time until I woke up the following morning with the hangover to end all hangovers, I'm too scared to get on the scales now :-(

Have a try on of your clothes TS,I did ( before the alcohol and the wedding!) and was pleasantly surprised how some of them fitted. its not always how many LBs lost but inches lost :-D

How have you done today Ann, nine and a half pounds is a great loss, more than a new born baby. :-D

Hi LS, the jeans are usually a good indicator but I'm sure you have a loose button :-) Despite the freezing weather here last winter I didn't wear my jeans as they were a bit tight and I opted for looser skirts. It was a bad move. Tight jeans cause discomfort and make me think before I eat, loose skirts don't. That's where I went wrong. When I tried the jeans on after my birthday in March they were far tighter and I couldn't do them up at all, I wasn't a happy bunny.

So the moral of this story is, keep those jeans on and a bottle of smelling salts in case of fainting :-D There are lots of good tips on here as well. I was eyeing up a stray chocolate cake in the cupboard but popped on to the thread instead :-)

Lynda we are off to Buckingham Palace at the weekend for a visit. I'm looking forward to seeing inside at last. We have been to Windsor, Sandringham and the length and breath of the country in various NT and English Heritage houses but the Palace is one I have always wanted to see

Teresa :-D

evening all and well done on all that have lost Weigh
its not my scalls day till friday

i think for some of us it is a matter of lack of motievsion
as we get older i dont think we move around as much
so come on you lot get motivated lol

now in stead of haveing bread for work is there not a microwave
so you can heat up paster or rice how about your own evening meal meat and veg all can still be heated in a microwave
make a salad and have it with crispbakes thay are only 38cals or crackerbread 19cal you can even put tuna fish on them
take plenty of friut to snack on

Tenerife Sun
stick with it just think about what you are eating and what you can change
check packets to see what have the lowest fat and cals
like scetty is lower than beans so i have half a tin of scetty
if you are haveing bread i find cheep holdmeal bread is lower than white bread
the one i get is 83 cals but i dont have bread that offen

any way i have change so much in my shoping that my daughter and old man has lost amost a stone each.

Well done all of you.

Dame Shelley well done in slimming down your family!

Although I only lost a pound this week and was a bit disappointed my body fat did go down which is one of my aims.

I think the extreme heat we have at the moment is a problem. It's too hot to do much. Roll on October a lovely comfortable month.

Well done everyone you are all doing great, we just have to except some weeks we will gain and some weeks we will lose. I can go up and down a couple of pounds but I am within my gold which I achieved in 2011.

I have done 220 on the Squat Challenge with six days left . I started the thirty day Plank Challenge 10 days ago and am finding this a bit more of a "challenge"

:-D :-D
