Red sauce on an ice cream cone. Our ice cream man always said, "do you want dragon's blood on it?"

By the time the van got to us it had run out of ice-cream every time. You could always tell because he would be playing the chimes.

I remember that raspberry sauce, loved it as a kid.

The ice-cream van came around every Sunday afternoon, I was sent out with a jug to get the ice-cream with raspberry sauce.

I wonder if I'd still like it?

:-D

Now there's a thing GlasgowLass - it was raspberry and not strawberry syrup, that's why it was a bit darker and really did look more like blood.

How odd?
That's 2nd time in less than a week that I've heard the term Monkey's Blood used for raspberry sauce on ice cream?

Nolls - I never said how long ago that was ;-) !

It was the name put me off, I remember being taken to Whitley Bay as a small bairn and the man in the ice cream van said "I've put plenty monkeys blood on for you, pet" I was hysterical until mam explained, but never had it since.

I hate to yell you Marie ...we still do, talk about kids haha. Don't fancy the name monkey's blood think that would put us off for ever. :-D

For some reason it's called monkey's blood here up north.

Would much rather just have a 99 with hundreds and thousands on.

ADDED
Prefer in a sugar cone rather than a cornet. We used to break the end of the cone, make a mini cone with that and then slurp the ice cream through the hole in the bottom of the big cone. yum.

I can take it or leave it not really an ice-cream fan but OH loves 99 and lots of sauce so just get the same as him.

I don't like the sauce much. We had an ice-cream man who called it jungle juice, I still didn't like it much.

when we lived on south coast if you were at ice cream van and wanted sauce you had to ask for it up here you have to ask if you don't want it.

So are you a sauce or no sauce person
