At some stage, GR will have to take their head out of the sand, and deal with

whom ever is maliciously RRd ....

Welcome back Jonesey, my friend

Island

Island Report 18 Jul 2013 17:26

Pigs might fly Renes. This issue was brought up at the London Meet - March 2012! - GR had asked if 'they' could come along. Nice girls and they did buy a round but, our suggestions? nah!

Mersey Report 18 Jul 2013 17:28

Does GR have a phone line.....just asking :-D :-D

I was using the thesaurus today, and came upon the word megalomaniac. The phantom RRer immediately sprang into my mind.

“A megalomaniac is a pathological egotist, that is, someone with a psychological disorder with symptoms like delusions of grandeur and an obsession with power. We also use the word megalomaniac  more informally for people who behave as if they're convinced of their absolute power and greatness”.

Paula - a lot of people who dabble in politics come across like that! lolol

I also love the phrase "big fish in a little sea"

Yes Errol I agree, it is almost a requirement of the job :-D

Island

I think as GR did not deal, with the problem correctly, in the first place,

It is now uncontrollable.......

Edit ...
Should add I had one post RRd and re instated 5 times -
but only one apology email from GR ...

Oh dear I gather that someone with an itchy finger has been busy again.

It's a great shame that whoever referred the opening post for review cannot seem to be able to get or is unwilling to seek the psychiatric help that they appear to so obviously need.

Whoever you are, don't despair, with proper assistance and management I'm sure that you can be helped to turn your small self-centred existence into a much more meaningful life. Don't delay, get help today!

they walk amongst us!!! and having worked in the field of mental health for nigh on thirty years I quickly discovered that there are far more on the "outside" than there are on the "inside"

Renes is probably right

in saying that " it is now unconTROLLable"

I think you have put your finger right on it and not on the RR button.

What I don´t understand is why it seems to be prevelent on Genes, but doesn´t seem to happen on other forums that I belong to.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 19 Jul 2013 07:55

Wisechild,

Do the other forums that you are familiar with have a moderator? Unfortunately GR forums do not, perhaps if they did Troll activities might be nipped in the bud rather than being allowed to develop into the type of thread that we are seeing on GR boards.

I am in favour of free speech and I know that everyone has the right to express their opinion which may not agree with my own but that does not give anyone the right to be rude or insulting to other members. Neither does it give the green light that it is acceptable to ignore the feelings of others when it comes to promoting or discussing topics which are of a particularly sensitive nature.

The easiest way to spot a troll is their time of posting. Anyone who posts between 10am and 11am is a troll. Dunk em, I say. ;-)

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 19 Jul 2013 10:07

:-S :-S :-S :-S

between 10 & 11 am?

And in what country would these Trolls be living?

My post says it's 10.08am

I can assure you it is 7.08pm here

:-P

Edit: if you're wondering what this is about, I was responding to a post that has since been RR'd (NOT by me). The post claimed trolls were around between 10 & 11 am.

wisechild

wisechild Report 19 Jul 2013 13:44

Yes Jonesy, they do have moderators, but I rarely see posts removed by them & usually it´s just to remove a duplicate thread & refer it to the existing one.
Like you, I´m all for freedom of speech & there are times when I strongly disagree with views which are posted on here, but it´s enough to say I disagree & put my point of view, which is, after all, no more valid than anyone elses.
I wouldn´t dream of having a slanging match in the street with a total stranger, so why do people think it´s OK to do it on line?

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 19 Jul 2013 15:12

Could someone please explain what was wrong with John's post. I couldn't see anything in it ( unless, of course, you only ever posted between stated times!!!!!!!!)

jax

jax Report 19 Jul 2013 15:35

I saw John's post and could see it was a tongue in cheek type of post.....why was it reported it wasn't aimed at anyone.....unless the sad person who posts between 10 and 11 am thought it was aimed at them :-S
