	I had a Scottish Instructor in the RAF while doing my National Service who did not say Ta ra- he said Tattie-bye!!

	Hi Everybody! I'm back ,but was working til 7.30. A killer shift! Onyway, Robert.... or shood a ca' ye 'Aul Boab'. If am hauf yer age, that maks you a hunner n ten! Yer no bad fur an Auld Yin... LOL Am I and the lovely Golden up there, the only 2 Scots born who actually still live in Scotland? There is reason why I am asking... after speaking to other exiled Scots, I found that they still use language from their youth which has long since died out No one that I know uses there words and are completey alien to the youth of today... Even I haven't heard these words since I was in my teens! Pictures.... as in cinema Poke... as in a bag (of chips ect) Press.... as in cupboard Piece ....as in sandwich .... Ok then, it is still commonly used but my kids cringe if they hear it The most out-dated word of all is: Winchin'... as in dating/kissing I spoke to someone recently who has been in OZ for over 40yrs. Talking about his wife and their dating years, he said ' winchin' at least 7 or 8 times during a 10 minute conversation. but I haven't even heard it used since circa 1979! I'll think of more!

	It may be a word used only in the West of Scotland but I hated it. Especially if an old Aunt or friend's mum asked "Are ye winchin', hen"? :-D :-D :-D :-D If I was to use the language of my parents today.... the race police would be out in force to arrest me! I'm thinking : Ice cream parlours, Chinese take-aways, corner shops ect Oh! another word that's rarely used and kids hate is: Ginger.... as in fizzy drinks! :-D :-D

	I use quite a lot of Scottish words others I think to myself " Am I making them up" as not heard them in years but GL Yes Pictures/Poke/Press/Piece ....a jammy piece ;LOL! but not heard of Winchin maybe a West coast saying? I like to use them to see the g/kids faces, they already think I am daft! I do like singing Old Scottish songs (well try to haha) and that get's the kiddies going especially (I wonder if anyone remembers it) In Ma Wee Gas Mask ...the kids love it OR....Ye Cannae Shove Yer Grannie Off The Bus ... they just roll their eyes :-D :-D

	Another different expression between Scotland and England- in Scotland we STAY in Edinburgh -in England they say- We LIVE in Manchester/Liverpool/Newcastle. I had a lovely dinner(at lunchtime) - a scotch pie smothered in baked beans and today I am having fruit pudding!!! Heaven! GlasgowLass, I'm not Quite a hunner an ten, I just feel that age. Although when I meet friends I haven't seen for a long time they Hi Auld Boab yer lookin' well - FOR YER AGE!!

Europe is too cold for me in winter, & southern Australia is too hot for me in summer. We're in the sub-tropics, it rarely gets above 35C in summer, but the humidity can he awful in January & February. A few years ago we had an awful hailstorm a few days before Christmas. I took photographs of our garden, hailstones among the palm trees, sent them to rellies & friends in UK :-D

	We Scots are famous for our kindness and generosity when someone is facing a problem - so can we have a Big Scottish Group Hug please for LadyScozz - as you will see from her other thread, her husband has been admitted to hospital <3
	Researching: I am researching the Wotherspoon family from the Old/New Monkland areas of Scotland, some moved to the Leslie and Kelty areas of Fife and I'm having problems linking the Wotherspoon's from Leslie and the Wotherspoon's from Kelty. I am also researching the Clusker family from Co. Meath in Ireland who moved to West Lothian and from there to Fife............"Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est"
