a friend's father was a great fan of supplements..... he overdosed & was a very sick man.

I've tried most of the supplements recommended for helping arthritis, each one for at least six months, and NONE OF THEM made any difference.

Nutrition and diet articles in magazines etc all advocate omega 3.

So himself bought a loaf of bread that had omega 3 oil in it and it was terrible. I don't know how they manage to sell it but obviously some people eat it.

We will have it other ways thanks...

I think that's a bit too much of a sweeping statement Gwen, there are good levels of oil. People need to look into things a bit more before jumping in at the deep end with taking lots of omega oils or stopping them altogether. Seems eating oily fish a couple of times a week is ok but it's the taking of lots of oils in tablet form etc that might cause a problem.

I am glad Prostate problems are not on th women's list of 'things to check' there are enough already

I saw that too, but what I read was a report that they think it may raise the risk of prostate cancer. They were talking about supplements too and the trouble is they don't say what the doses were that they studied either. Many things like vitamins are not good for you in high doses.

Where did you get that from DIZZI my little Chickadee? :-S

I thought it was Omega 6 that was a little dodgey. :-(

Mind you, I`m sure I read somewhere that too much Omega 3 can be a little detrimental to peeps on Warfarin medication.
