Very fond of our present house which we have been in since 1974.
It's only our second property and fairly convenient for buses etc.
But after all that time we desperately need to move as the incentive to de-clutter.
We've extended it twice so it has a lot of our input incorporated.
More grounds with room for the caravan and a workshop would be nice, though.

Jude, I am dreaming but might make things happen sometime, if I could clear my house and sell it. There are always people putting notes in the door asking if it's for sale as they are looking for property in that area so shouldn't be a problem selling. Trouble is I would be removing myself 25 miles from my son, just at a time when he (well his gf) might have started producing grandchildren and I would want to be close by to see it/them often. I see how difficult it is for o.h. to get close to his grandchildren as they are 40 miles away. We did spend time with them on Friday afternoon at a local park where o.h. used to go when young and used to take his kids to as well. I know it too, there is a river where the children can paddle and fish for tiddlers, it's lovely. He spent a lot of time with his very demanding granddaughter and I spent a lot of time cuddling and playing with grandson who is nearly 4 months old and gorgeous! O.h.'s father and stepmum came too so was nice to see the family together.

Uzzi and Liz....the thing is l have vic on my back alot of the time telling me to get rid of!!!!.....my crafts things are important to me and will keep loads, but l'm sorting everything. Just filled a bag of fabric and loads of bits, but the charity shop can rag whats of no use. About to fill another...lol...l have so much stuff. Loads of rubber stamps etc etc etc...

We live in a reconstituted farmhouse...The Oxford Council bought a farm in North Oxford to build a council estate on..Wife's father sub contracted to builders and they used farmhouse as site offices...When finished it was to be knocked down but dad had it off them,,took it down stone by stone ,,rafter by rafter and rebuilt it here in 1932/34...The wife moved in 1935 just one year old and is still here..Have traced the history back but can't get a complete date of original build...It wasn't on site in 1725 but shows in 1765...Have photo of original..It's beautiful.....LES...

It certainly has changed as we’ve got older. I’ve always said that when you need the room for growing children you can’t afford it, but when you can afford it, you don’t need it!

I’d have liked our house and garden to be a little larger with the back garden facing south instead of north. Realistically, if/when we move it will be to something smaller and on one level ( or with stairs which would take a stair lift) and close to amenities but without the traffic noise we have now. There wasn't the passing vehicles that we have, now that the main road which we back onto has been 'improved'.

I always wanted to live by the sea and still do, was in Sheringham today and went to look at several properties on the outside to confirm the areas they are in are where I want to be, now I am all ready for that lottery win this week lol

Sheringham is a nice place in sunshine and cold weather and enough to do, with most things pretty compact within a smallish area. Train bus or car to Norwich or other towns, and a lovely coastline all around, what more could I want?

So glad you are feeling settled in your new home Uzzi, fate works things out for us whatever we dream of.


Good luck with your move Jude. I wouldn't worry too much about getting rid of things, except the really easy items to deal with - as Uzzi said just box the rest up and sort out at your leisure once you are settled in,

I often look through the houses for sale supplements in the local paper picking out this one or that one that I'd have if money was no object.

But, I think our house now is as close to perfect as we could get. It's 150 years old and has loads of character but got all the mod cons we need. Go out the front door and turn right - 250 yards to the beach. Turn left and all the shops, bars and restaurants you could want. Nice front and side gardens but the selling point to me was - 2 separate back yards - I'm easy pleased.

Jude you don´t have to get rid just box up and label, that way it is there for you and easy for others to decide. Do though get rid of the nic naks that never really mattered

My favourite home is the one without a mortgage. I don’t mind having a cat around so long as he/she does not act as if it is the owner.

Self-cleaning implements would be grand & I would allow the maid one day off each week. It would be smashing if my doorbell stopped working now & then especially when cold-callers come for a visit. Likewise the phone.

It would be lovely too if Royal Mail delivering parcels could hang around till I return from the shops. I’m not really interested in their pre-printed card informing me of the bleeding obvious - try delivery when I’m in residence. The maid is a tad slow in answering the door & is no match using her walking-frame for the swiftness of Usain, the speedy postman.

Otherwise, I’m as happy as a dog living in a lamp-post factory.

Karen yours and mine were so alike as they are now. Jude I am not sure you are in your last home but you are going to a happy home. lol don´t collect too much stuff !!!
