Well done Uzzi.............I made myself tolerate thunderstorms when my girls were little, I didn't want them to pick up on my fear.

I still don't like them, but the girls are all fine about them :-D

Just wish I felt more comfortable about spiders though :-(

Okay I am out from under the bed lol. I did train myself not to shake at thunderstorms but that didn´t help the mutts.

sadly the slightest bang is setting the pup off now. so she is under the bed again today.

Poor pup must be struggling enough with the fits though :-(

We don't do fireworks, but do like watching everyone else's.

If Uzzi could just stop hiding under the table and stress weeing all over the floor the dogs would stop as well.

Our pets pick up a lot of tension from us Sharron.

Our dog used t quiver and shake when fireworks went off and we rushed to comfort her which made her worse.

When she was about 5, I took some advice from a dog trainer at the Dogs Trust where we go her from. We all had to ignore the bangs and flashes outside, just sit quietly and ignore her, no looking, speaking or touching, really tough to do, but it worked.

Over the course of a few nights, she settled quickly, albeit under the table or halfway up the stairs.

Now, some 8 years later, she looks a bit concerned when the first noises start, but settles down and is chilled out really quickly

I had always thought that fireworks must been a very bad thing for birds but we sometimes visit a pub that has a very large duck pond.

They were planning a firework celebration and consulted the RSPCA or RSPB first.

It seems that the birds hear the first one and do the flappy squawky bit, as with any thunder storm and then treated it as that by settling down until it passes.

I wonder how much of our own tension domestic pets pick up on with fireworks.

Oh poor mutts, especially with this sort of noise. I remember in Malta the mad firework displays on Fiesta nights, each village has a different day to celebrate so they go on week after week. Health and safety isn't as strict as in UK either so there were usually accidents, imagine fireworks whizzing across wires strung over a square where people were thronging round and there were nougat stalls and such, madness! Several firework factories/stores in Malta have gone up in smoke and they were often badly situated in the first place so a danger to all.

I don't know why those really loud ones have to boom so loud, they reverberate through everywhere and everything, they make my heart race. Must be awful for people who remember air raids in the war.

Why do fireworks have to be so loud?
Aerial bombs must be horrendous.

Stray the normal ones my mutts are learning to live with, the Ariel bombs scare me they are so loud. and there is no reason for fireworks in Spain after all everyday is a fiesta

:-( i love fireworks and we normally buy just the ground ones, im lucky my cat doesnt murmur when they go off, but i do make sure shes locked in bonfire night x

It is a fact in Spain please don´t do it. Animals have enough trouble with normal fireworks but the loud ones have taken both mine in hiding in shivers. As my pup had a fit this morning I have to try and keep her out of hidey hole. not easy when she is shaking worse than a fit.

When will people think of animals.
Damn they rely on them as work horses and as pets ..try looking after them.
