:-D

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!

You may (or may not) know/remember that we had a flood in our house at Easter (the morning of Saturday), and have been living in a tip ever since... just over four months.

We've had carpenters, plumbers, plasterers, electricians, carpet layers etc etc....... and today we had the carpet cleaners, the last of the tradesmen.

Sort of........... somebody (no idea who) must have dropped a tool and they've chipped a tile on the floor....... so the building company are responsible for fixing it. Thank goodness we have some spare tiles.

Now we have to get all the furniture back in place, and everything else, there's so much to do!

Nothing has been dusted for four months (I couldn't reach anything!), so I've got some work ahead of me this week.

D'oh! Now you have gone and done it! That's tempting fate, I can just hear the gremlins waiting to fracture a water pipe under the floor as the tile is replaced! :-0

Phew..................what a relief, pleased you have your home almost back to normal.

Oh and the H word is frowned upon on here :-D

lol Mayfield - no water pipes under that floor, it's upstairs on the landing.

We've started moving things back into place.

I've got our bedroom & the spare bedroom sorted (beds made, furniture dusted, ornaments in place, lamps & clocks working etc etc).

OH has put a sofa & the tv etc in the TV room. The chair I use is on the wrong side of the room.

We still have cupboards in the downstairs loo, and loads of stuff all over the living room, dining room & kitchen.

He's now sprawled on the sofa, watching TV. Probably waiting for his dinner.

He might be wearing his dinner.

What a relief now plenty of tidying up but at least you can see the end of the tunnel , I know how you feel we had one a few years back 2 wks before Christmas and having a friend to stay ...Huge fans going no carpets (one only 2 days old) and old wooden floor in kitchen we enjoyed ourselves but would not recommend it , took us about 3 mths to sort out so Good luck with the sorting out :-)

I might wander around the house and draw happy :-D faces in the dust on the furniture.

NOTHING will get done tomorrow...... because he's playing golf!

I've been looking at some of the "stuff" scattered around the place.

Why do we have 12 Christmas coffee mugs? OK, we got them in Germany at a Christmas market (filled with boozy hot chocolate), but they stay in the cupboard, we always forget about them at Christmas.

There is loads of stuff that we don't need, but I like it.

If OH moans I will point out his collection of German beer steins....... he doesn't "need" them either........ he's got over 100!

Does your OH have his on show?? A shame if he doesn't. We recently had a clear out (none of the family at the time wanted the "rubbish" so got everything into boxes and thought would send to auctions, maybe make a bob or two ... as usual they sat in the spare room for ages then one son came to visit he looked through all and was horrified we would get rid of everything so they took most of the boxes back to their house then a couple of weeks later he took some more....Now I am really worried they are turning into me and becoming hoarders, still quite pleased some of his gt g/m stuff is being kept in family. Must admit when my OH complains I remind him he has books and books of stamps and suggest he sells them, ... that keeps him quiet for a bit :-D

Can I come.

So glad you are getting shipshape at last Scozz, altho maybe that's not the right phrase to use considering you were under water lol

I would make the first thing on the list getting your fav. chair in the right position and leave the rest of the sorting to be done slowly.

Best of luck

He bought loads of beer steins when were were living in Germany. I also gave him some (no problems with birthday & Christmas gifts!). But I told him they would stay in their packaging until we got a cupboard with a glass front, because no way on this earth was I going to dust 100 beer steins every week!

It took a year. :-D

I'm sitting at the computer with a coffee........ relaxing!

My legs feel like wobbly rubber.

I've been up and down the stairs since 9am (it's now nearly 2pm) taking things from the dining room & living room, to put in TWO (whoopee) cupboards in the tv room.

You would not believe the state of the downstairs bathroom! We haven't been able to get into it for months (because of cupboards being stored in there). There's a black monster in the basin & his big cousin in the loo. Ewwww! Cobwebs on the ceiling! We live in a humid area, so mould & mildew is a constant problem, but this is disgusting.

After my little rest (and another coffee) I'm going to sit on the floor downstairs & sort out the cd's. No idea how many of them we have! I'm the one who listens to music, and OH thinks I'm nuts because I arrange them in alphabetical order (I do the same with the spice rack). I'm NOT anal (as my brother claims) I'm basically lazy, so I work out how to do things taking the minimum amount of time. One of these years I'll get all my cd's onto my ipad........ not in the immediate future!

laughed at your "slowly" comment PSD. I'm a maniac when it comes to moving! I hate having unpacked boxes sitting around for ages. There have been times when I've had to put up with it, because of decorating & lack of cupboards etc, but most things get unpacked as soon as possible. The first thing I always do Is make the bed, followed by towels etc in the bathroom, then unpacking the kettle! I figure after moving in, I need a coffee, a shower, then I'll fall into bed.

:-D

Where's my 2nd cup?

Hello Scozz.
It's good idea to get all your music CDs on your ipad.

Bit by bit, all of ours are finding their way onto the PC and OH has finally got around to using his ipod..... the car.... whoopee!
Prior to this, he had a mountain of CDs in the car. Each time he chose a new disc, he ejected the old one and put in in the new box.

Within a short space of time, he had dozens of CDs... all in the wrong boxes.

I used to sit for hours re-organising them into the correct box and I have never worked out how there was always, ..... 1 box missing!

We rarely buy CDs now but when we do, , they go straight into itunes and the box is never opened again.
:-D :-D :-D :-D

Now I know why he was sitting in front of the tv the other night, when there was loads to be done.

He wasn't feeling well, and didn't want to tell me.

Took him back to the doctor yesterday. He's still got pneumonia! More antibiotics, doc recommended rest, keep warm etc....... but OH insists he's playing golf tomorrow!

He has an appointment on Monday with the specialist, and an appointment for next Friday with the "vacuum cleaner"....to clean out his lungs.

:-(

Sorry folks, the party has been postponed!

<3

GL ~ I'm going to check the car for "missing" cds!!!
