Alistair Cooke ( not the cricketer ) 1908 - 2004 presented the BBC's "Letter from America" radio programme for nearly sixty years, retiring only shortly before his death.

A giant of the media compared to today's pygmies.

Yes, he was extraordinary. I used to listen to "Letter From America" every week.

I would never have thought to compare him to Mick Jagger either.

The beautiful Paul Newman ( 1925 - 2008 ) was 83 when he died :-(.....still fab then :-)

Just googled Arthur Askey - 1900-1982 and was working up to shortly before his death!

I think he was in Petworth Cottage Hospital for a while before he died.

I am just mentally comparing Busy Bee to Paint It Black.
