Good News for NHS patients in South East London

The worst thing is that they actually said that they wanted to close this A & E etc., so the money could be spent on another hospital which is in crisis.

Appalling.....

Last year, about 3 months before the Olympics started, I was on my own and was very sick (did not know at the time but was bringing up blood!) and had terrible stomach cramps, so I had to call an ambulance, but as I was 'walking wounded' once I had seen the triage nurse I then had to wait 2 hours to be seen, only to be given some painkillers and told that if it got worse to come back. Saw 2 nurses and 1 doctor all in different parts of A & E, and with my limited mobility was very stressful. And then had to get a cab home. And it was not abnormally busy.

Researching:
We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars, Oscar Wilde New avatar, my dad age about 3/4 months, could have been worse, it could have been the awful nude on a rug!!

Having to travel to hospitals outside of your area can be very inconvenient and stressful. I attend the Princess Royal at Locksbottom near Bromley on a regular basis, they recently referred me to a consultant at Kings College Hospital, it took me an hour to get their by taxi and over two hours to get back home by bus and train, my mobility is not good and by the time I got home I was stressed out and exhausted.

Researching:
I am researching the Wotherspoon family from the Old/New Monkland areas of Scotland, some moved to the Leslie and Kelty areas of Fife and I'm having problems linking the Wotherspoon's from Leslie and the Wotherspoon's from Kelty. I am also researching the Clusker family from Co. Meath in Ireland who moved to West Lothian and from there to Fife............"Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est"

Saw this on the news - it is fantastic - but the Government & NHS have won the right to appeal

I was so angry about this. One of the alternative hosptials was the Queen Elizabeth at Woolwich, now this A&E it busy 24/7 and struggles to cope now, without sending people from outside the area here.

And to suggest that people from Lewisham could go to St. Thomas's is ludicrous. It could take someone on public transport about and hour to get there, and if they did drive, the charges on this site for parking are astronomical (I know, this is where my mum died after 12 weeks!!!).

Our government seem to think that by closing a & e in one area will improve the services elsewhere, HOW???? :-P

A High Court judge has quashed a government decision to cut services at Lewisham Hospital in South East London.

Mr Justice Silber ruled Mr Hunt acted outside his powers when he announced casualty and maternity units at Lewisham Hospital would be downgraded.

The judge said the Secretary of State had breached provisions of the National Health Services Act 2006.

The challenge was brought by Lewisham council and Save Lewisham Hospital.
