Allegedly we have a shortage of nurses, a shortage of midwives, they are closing A&E Departments, waiting times are rising, operations are being cancelled, so just what is going, are you as confused as I am :-S :-S :-S

The Department of Health is to hand back more than £1.5 billion to Chancellor George Osborne after failing to spend all of its budget.

The money, originally meant for the NHS, will be used by the Treasury to cut its overall costs. The department’s annual accounts reveal a £2.132 billion underspend in 2012/13. Of this, £1.5 billion was unused by the now-disbanded strategic health authorities and primary care trusts, £106 million by NHS hospitals and £510 million by self-governing foundation hospitals.

:-S yes

He should demand that those responsible for NOT using it to benefit the NHS have their contracts terminated immediately, without giving them 'golden' handshakes.

The money should then be used in the way it was intended.

I am surprised the hospitals didn't spend all their budgets, they have enough managers and such to have spent money on jaunts and perks, instead of it going where it is needed. Spending more on cleaning staff would be a good start, to lessen the spead of mrsa and other things.
