Wasn't he on piers Morgans life stories a while back? I'm sure he didnt have agreat childhood if I can remember? There was also something about him then which actually changed my opinion of him when he admitted being mean and selfish to his wife and family hmmmn!!

True to say we really dont know these people and what goes on behind close doors.

Celebs in the news will always portray themselves in the best of light wont they. Thats how they get us to like them and then when something like this comes to light, we dont want to believe it because"they always seemed so nice."

Innocent til proven guilty but there's no smoke without fire!!

Very relevant to the subject on this thread, a posting on one of my local facebook sites ;-

Naive in thinking that trust you can find within the family circle so closely confined. Innocent eyes so easy to trick. To young to realise these people are sick.

Realise what? It's never changed. How was I to know these folks were deranged.. We grow and we learn by the things that we see, is that not the way that its meant to be?

By the time your of age to have sense of your own. From baby to child, then to teens you have grown. Much damage is done, time cannot reverse. Life just goes on... no time to rehearse!

Tick, tick, tock... Biological clock. Time just keeps moving, it never stops. Looking around for whatever seems kind until there isn't even a place in your mind!

And so it goes around and around, an endless cycle, an unbreakable chain. Fractured society not hidden from view, no one can change it, not even you!

The end drawing nearer your offspring have grown only to find they have sh~t of their own. Naive in their thinking that trust they could find within the family circle so closely confined.

his name has been on the radar for a long time as are a lot of others who have not yet been named, yet we all think they are nice. i think a celeb wing should be set up in a prison for the lot of them when they are sent down. it will be a bit of company for mr hall.

It's the images that shock me. No smoke without fire but I will say innocent until proven. The trial and verdict will be interesting but my daughter has always said there was a something about him.

Imagine how her maj feels,,,,,,,I bet that painting is now down in the depths of Buck House ready for the 5th Nov, :-D.

Why are people shocked when a household name is applied to abuse they are not a human set aside who dont act the same as Joe Bloggs.

Many years ago I worked with a bloke, whose pal had done some work at Rolf's home and after all the work was done (about 2 days). As he was leaving, having been paid, he comlmented on one of Rolf's paintings, saying how much he liked it. Rolf promptly took it off the wall and gave it to him, a really kind gesture.

Even hearing the news reports etc., I still find it hard to believe.

But as said before I am not prepared to judge him (or others) until the trial.

I can understand where AnnC is coming from.

It comes as a shock, that some whom you have 'trusted' as being a good, honest and upright person - may not, after all, be as pleasant as you thought. It leaves you with a distinctly uncomfortable feeling :-(

~Lynda~ Report 30 Aug 2013 09:45

How can we be shocked, none of us, as far as I can tell knew him, just like we didn't know Gary Glitter, Stuart Hall, and the like, they are just household names who's only image we saw are what they wanted us to see.

You may well be shocked when you first hear this sort of news, but if you sit back think about it, you shouldn't be shocked, these people are just names.

Please remember those who abuse are good at that role, they groom their victims, that's how they get away with it.

As for no smoke without fire, that's not always true, sometimes someone will say something, about another person, that will be said again.with a bit added, once a few people have told the story, the story is untrue.

So I am not saying Rolph Harris is guilty, I'll leave that decision to the jury who will know the facts, I'm just saying, never be shocked about any abuser.

It makes you wonder how many people in The industry have used their fame and trust to abuse, look how many people on this thread are shocked. I imagine that this will curb any abuse in future generations of people as i say int his sort of industry.

Its all about power isnt it.

I was watching an old Matyn Gaye doc a few mths ago, it was filmed in a hotel room, the room was full of people, I suspect many were hangers on. At one point the hotel manager walked in the room and attempted to converse with Mr Gaye, the man himself didnt even make eye contact instead his manager went over to Mr Gaye who whispered in his ear, Mr Gaye manager then turned to the hotel manager and said " Mr Gaye would like a drink of water please"...now that is power!!!! ..

no you cant really, unless you were there, in the room, and no every inch of the details of the case,

no1 except the accused and the victim, "if there is one" no exactly what did or didn't happen,

but its people guessing n presuming that discourages victims to come forward for fear of being disbelieved or labeled a liar,

Friends and neighbours are standing by entertainer Rolf Harris who faces 13 counts of child sex offences.

Family friend and fellow singer Vince Hill said his stomach turned when he heard the news. "While everyone is innocent until proven guilty I hope he'll be okay because a possible prison sentence would hit him hard," Mr Hill said.

"This just isn't the Rolf I know. But whatever happens to him - and everyone is innocent until proven guilty - I'll always be his friend. He knows that."

Another friend, Australian performer Maria Venuti, said the Harris she knew was talented, gorgeous and charming.
"But I'm in a real bind here," she told Fairfax Radio. "If he is guilty then you wouldn't want to be standing up for this sort of behaviour."

The entertainer faces six counts of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 1980 and 1981, and three charges of indecent assault on a girl aged 14 in 1986. He is also charged with four counts of making indecent images of a child in the first half of 2012.

if he supposedly did these things in 1980, that was about the time or just after when i saw him telling his filthy jokes in front of children....

When it first came out - I did not believe it - however since yesterday, I have changed my mind.

The downloading of indecent photographs of children as recent as last year? That is it for me. But again the jury will decide.

Chris of Wessex.

He is accused of MAKING indecent images of children.

Downloading is bad enough - but Making the images is even worse in my book.

I have no idea if he is innocent or guilty of all or any of the charges.

but hope that the truth will prevail and justice done.

Like with the revelations of JS it was said that others in
the business knew what was going on,makes me wonder
if the same applies to other celebs. Anyway at the age of
82? These celebs if found guilty will serve very little time in
prison unfortunately.

Well I WAS shocked Lynda.

There are some 'celebrities' whose talents/acts/shows, I simply don't like and won't watch as personally, I consider them unpleasant and distasteful.

There are some who seem unable to raise a laugh unless they use bad language and tell obscene jokes - rather like a child trying to impress it's peers.

We have long since moved from the gently suggestive, mild innuendo humour and gone headlong into the blatantly descriptive sexual acts

Then, there are other 'celebrities' whom I have enjoyed watching, laughed heartily at their witty and astute jokes, trusting from experience, that their humour will raise my 'feel good factor'.

When anyone I have 'trusted' lets me down, then I am shocked, hurt and bewildered. :-(
