Wouldn't it make sense to have a Welsh speaker in the office?

:-0

How did a Welsh sign get placed in Aberdeen? rofl

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 30 Aug 2013 10:10

enough of this slagging off the Welsh or I'll report this thread Errol :-D

this is the country that gave you Tom Jones, Dylan Thomas, Shirley Bassey, Harry Seccombe and many more, so lay off :-S

And "dim" in Welsh means "No"

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 30 Aug 2013 10:41

I spent four days in Wales, had a lovely time.

Except for the barmaid........ who argued with me about the Scotch I ordered.......... "try this one, it's better"........... "No, I want that one"...... and so on and so on......... grrrrrrrr

AnnCardiff as if I would :)

When I lived in Wales I quickly discovered that dim meant no and you could add "io" to virtually anything. I don't think the spelling matters as long as you say...
dim smokio - no smoking
dim parcio - no parking
dim entrio - no entry
big dim noio - big no no
s dim - snow
dim sum - a Chinese snack
dim dim sumio - no Chinese snacks
dim ssss - nose
In fact, I reckon I could give Welsh lessons as I am so fluent.

I remember seeing this a few years ago but seems to have repeated in being shown around the web at the moment :-)

I'm from Swansea and sadly know people who work in the call centre including some who are trained teachers and nurses but sadly call centres are the Swansea job scene at the moment . Have to say though there are some right idiots there too including the bodybuilder who thinks he is gods gift to women , he is currently a promo topless butler for a bar in town and the only attention from the ladies is of laughter . :-D

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 30 Aug 2013 13:07

Do you mean the television programme Welshkitty?

Welshkitty

Welshkitty Report 30 Aug 2013 15:50

I do indeed Errol :-)

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 31 Aug 2013 15:22

Now that I am fluent do you think I could design some roadsigns?

BrendafromWales

BrendafromWales Report 31 Aug 2013 15:39

If you do,Errol, don't go on a web translator, they are rubbish....just ask Tecwyn, or one of the other Welsh speakers on here ..and beware that some words are different in North and South Wales!....Diolch!

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 31 Aug 2013 15:50

I shall bear that in mind - thank you for the advice.
Is there a North/South phrasebook?

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 31 Aug 2013 15:59

North - wnewch chi parcio yn daclus

eRRolSheep Report 31 Aug 2013 16:15
