BrightSolid's new CEO for GenesRU & FMP and other genealogy properties primary remit is to bring the businesses into profit. She sees hauling them into the mainstream of modern web sites as a key part of that. Van den Belt's CV is far more focused on blogs and social media rather than genealogy which suggest fireworks both here and at the sedate FMP.

Judging by the community sites at SUP/LiveJournal time may soon be up for the phantom RR'r.

Here are some of the community pages / boards created under her leadership.
What do you think ?

Not only the phantom RR'r, but the rest of us as well!

Despite the former Monopolise Commission objections, I can see GR being merged with FMP and the boards closed.

The commitment to the Monopolies Commission was not eternal.

Given that most of van den Belt's CV is involvement in social media, not family history, why do you think she will shut down community boards ?

My guess is that not much will happen for a few months while she decides which way to slice the cake.

Assuming that there could be some sort of merger of FMP & GRU the obvious steps would be to close down the GRu trees and replace them with FMP ( a lot of the code is common anyway ). The other side of the coin given her background would be very much beefed up social media for the whole biz inc FMP.

Lots more tv tie ins too.

The comments on that refering to Livejournal weren't very favourable.
