The UCAN CLUB was a childs club run by the Derby Telegraph. You sent in your name, address, birthdate and photo. They gave you a number and put your photo in the paper. You could write and tell jokes etc and read the junior section on a thursday. They also wished you happy birthday every year,
The UCAN CLUB later changed it's name to the junior telegraph club.

Hi

I keep coming across a reference to The UCAN Club which existed in Derby between 1910s and the 1930s (and probably outside of these date)

The club appears to cater for youngsters in the area and several of my wife's relatives appear to have been members.

I have searched via Google and found nothing - does anyone have any knowledge about the club?

Regards

Dave
