Sad to note that despite being invited to explain their reasons for reporting my opening post, the reporter appears to prefer to remain silent.

"In the meantime perhaps you would care to display the courage of your convictions and post what exactly it was within its content that caused you concern and under which category you felt that it breeched the GR Terms and Conditions of boards use.

Don't be shy now this is your opportunity to explain your views and position to others who I'm sure are keen to hear about them as I am."

Presumably the reporter is happier to remain in the shadows probably cowering behind the cloak of anonymity provided to them by the current GR reporting procedure.

Their action or rather inaction will I am sure be regarded by some as typical of a spineless social inadequate. Personally I am not sure and I am likely to remain so until such time as the reporter is prepared to explain why they felt it necessary to report the opening post for review.

Nottingham accents vary quite a lot depending where in the county you are from. Not much in common between the Meadows and West Bridgeford for instance lol.

I don't think there is an evil RR'r lurking. Much more likely to be a daemon software robot much of the time. GRU support staff may from time to time have a look at the robot reports when they have time. Many people assume that because GRU claims to have "millions of members" it is a large concern with a big staff etc. It is tiny.

I was coming round to same view as Rollo. Some software pulls out certain words in thread and automatically reports Opening Post. Then when they review it on Monday, they are too embarrassed to overturn report. So we get some cock'n'bull story about the thread causing trouble.

No, the report is what is causing the trouble. Anyway, I spell badly to avoid the automatic reporter :-P

It comes down to : do you accept that everyone has the right to report something, ie Mr Magoo's joke about ecstasy which they find distasteful, without also having to "admit' to it, justify it, and face a lynch mob if others don't agree?

There are at least 3 people who have PMd me to say that whilst it wasn't them, they weren't sorry to see Mr M's joke go, and they are all long term members with NO track record of reporting or being 'touchy'...

The report button was put there for a reason, it may be overused...it may not...but if the report is based on genuine feelings...then there is really no point banging on about it!

And, as has been said before, it could well be that the person reporting is not a paying member and therefore is unable to come on here and explain.

jax Report 17 Nov 2013 14:41

If GR had this software surely it would just remove an offending word?

A site I used to use had it and it would replace it with [removed ect]

One day a lady was talking about losing weight and had accidently not put a space between the words weight watchers so it was removed as would that North Lincolnshire town beginning with S if used.

This is nothing to do with GR, it is some sad person paying member or otherwise

C'mon, you keen reporter. You can report all the last 3 posts (edit - 2. Genes appear to have removed the third offensive one as he is a serial offender). I think they are all (edit - both) extremely distasteful and need reporting.

jax Report 17 Nov 2013 16:57

John

What are you on about....GR have not removed anything...the poster did, maybe it was because of your stupid comment telling the so called reporter to rr our posts.
