My great aunt had a terrible pregnancy and was ill all through it. At the end, as expected, she delivered a still-born son.

Because it was expected, they were prepared and laid the poor dead child down while they comforted and tended to the mother.

She happened to notice the dead child twitch a bit.

He lived well into his eighties after that.

We grew up knowing about Baby Ronnie. As he was known . He was Ronald Frederick Arthur . born 16th Oct 1930 died 16Jan 1931

I have his picture in a frame that was on the best sitting room wall till mum died and we cleared the house. He is in his layers of hand knitted clothes lying on a brocade chaise longue, the picture was taken at a local photo studio.

How lucky we were to have the picture to see what he looked like

Me! I would have given anything to be told my baby daughter's death was a mistake. And I expect my Mum and my Aunt would both have been the same over my older brother and my cousin who didn't make it.

So many little ones lost and no, I don't think you ever get over it, I haven't and I know my Mum always spoke of my brother Richard.

Terrible story really and how the heck did the doctor make such a mistake I agee it must be terrible to lose a child and never get over it ....

Guess if I had to choose a similar it would be our big brother who died aged 3 months in 1931 from pneumonia/bronchitis

Mum always stayed devastated at his loss

With my family tree I would find it hard to chose
