Katrina Report 2 Jan 2014 11:02

Mary Ann Jackson 1874-1954 married Albert Robert Smith 1880-1963 and migrated to Western Australia from England and both passed away in Perth, Western Australia. Trying to locate their children May Smith dob? Richard Smith dob ? Violet Smith dob? Florence Smith 1899-1987 born in England. Not sure if they were born in Australia or England. Can't find whether they married or whether they passed away before marriage. Any help would be appreciated :-)

It would appear that Albert Robert Smith paid for both his and Mary's graves.
Could the infant Albert Robert Smith be his grandchild, or might it just be a coincidence?

Jumping to 1972, the last available on-line ER, Edwin and April are still at the above address, now joined by
Joan Elizabeth Smith - Book keeper
Terrance George Smith - Labourer
Lesley Amy Smith - Candler

As the relationship isn't shown, although we can assume that Terrance is a son, the girls could either be a sister + wife, or both of them sisters

Albert Robert Smith enlisted in the Australian Army on 11 Sep 1916, which means they must have emigrated between Apr 1911 & then.

If you want to read the records which unfortunately don’t give details of his children, go to

These are the WA BMD in the vital domain

BIRTHS (1841-1932)
DEATHS (1841-1971)
MARRIAGES (1841-1936)

As none of the children found are listed, its fairly safe to assume that they were born in the UK sometime between 1905 and 1911. Try FreeBmd yourself.

It would be a stroke of luck if you came across a marriage announcement relevant to the descendants.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ online newspapers goes up to 1950. You could have a play around with those for births/deaths between the arrival and 1950

http://ryersonindex.net/search.php gives extracts of death announcements. If you found something that might be relevant, you could ask for the full details.

As Smith is such a common name, there are over a thousand SMITH passenger list records to look at on GR alone between 1911 and 1916 when we know they were in Australia

Contact the cemetery and ask if she were unmarried. It could be that this particular lady was. If she was single, ask for the Funeral directors details and contact them. They may be willing to pass on a message for you

Thank you for your help. <3
It's a lot confusing as there were two Jackson sisters who married two Smith brothers and both couple moved to Western Australia probably about the same time. Edwin Sidney Smith is probably the son of Martha Jackson and Richard Edwin Smith.
