CROWDS NOW SINGING THE HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL-

THE FIELDS OF ATHENRY

By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young girl calling
Michael they have taken you away,
For you stole Trevelyn's corn
So the young might see the morn,
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay

Low lie, The Fields Of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing,
It's so lonely round the Fields of Athenry

By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young man calling
'Nothing matters Mary, when you're free'
Against the famine and the crown,
I rebelled, they cut me down
Now you must raise our child with dignIty

Low lie, The Fields Of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing,
It's so lonely round the Fields of Athenry

By a lonely harbour wall
She watched the last star falling
As the prison ship sailed out against the sky
For she lived in hope and pray
For her love in Bot'ny Bay
It's so lonely round the Fields Of Athenry

Low lie, The Fields Of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing,
It's so lonely round the Fields of Athenry

Only two nations in it already - Wales and Ireland. And next week in Dublin will decide things. Don't know about you, Jem - but I am not as confident as I would like to be about next week.

Noticed in Sunday Mirror that England are tipped as a team of the future. Don't agree. I cannot see their side competing at top level in next 5 years at least. They might get a good few victories, but other nations (Wales, Ireland and France) are now better than them and will remain that way. Scotland and Italy are getting better every year and they should both be able to take England on their day.

I wish them luck, but the Duke Of Lancaster is hardly inspiring, is he?

Nor me John :-(

We were rather lack-lustre by Wales' standards yesterday I felt! And Ireland had a very good game!

BUT- All teams have one average game every 6 Nations Championship. Wales had theirs yesterday. Let's hope it's out of their system now, and they go on to bigger and better things next week! :-) :-)

Shame about Luke Charteris. But what a side!!!

It really should be the match of the championship, and probably decide which of 6 nations ultimately wins this year. But it will also be very interesting to see how consistent France are this year. On their day, sacre bleu!!! Not on their day, lu blue ;-)
