things we learn as children stick in our heads

1066? I say ten sixtysix..... cos that's what I learned in history class.

Depressing thought........ I was born in the middle of last century. Makes me feel ancient.

slightly digressing, but when I was a lad,in early fifties reading tales of the old cowboys, and prospectors, it confused me slightly when they referred to the '49 ers or back in '79................

so its possible that referring to MY '50's might be a bit off-putting

Well I wouldn't say my gt grandfather was born in 1 thousand 8 hundred and 9 so I suppose I would say twenty fourteen. But then somebody born in 1006 I would say 1 thousand and six, not ten oh six. Hmmmm.
