That's a heck of a cheek, I wouldn't be very happy. Make sure they know you hae a very early appointment with other friends on Sunday morning so they will have to leave early! Then start getting ready at silly o'clock - you can always enjoy a coffee or brunch out knowing you have seen them on their way. Otherwise you might get stuck with them all day.

Make sure you don't have to do breakfast or heaven forbid, lunch! Might be different if they offer to take you out for lunch to reciprocate, and that they will leave from the restaurant.

Good luck, hope this doesn't spoil your evening out

I agree, it's so rude. I would've said what Hayley said :-|

Hope you enjoy the evening despite this inconvenience, Paula :-)

I will come and stay with you that night, Paula. Am sure I can regale them both with loads of funny stories whilst you slip off to bed early. :-D ;-)

Why doesn't OH greet them at door and sign them in and go through all the Health & Safety and house rules, show them their bedrrom and shower etc.

Whilst you just rock backwards and forwards in front bedroom is silhouette :-0 :-0

I would always be wary of people like that, you never know what their motives are !!

We met some people at a wedding a few years back, got on ok with them, by the end of the evening they were all for us meeting up and sharing their tent for a weekend away.

I know what their game was..........just not the same as ours.

Find something very important that you have to do Paula. !!!!

Or else get Merlin or John round or both of them, that would be so much more fun.

M. :-D

I am not sharing a bed with Merlin. You must decide between us, Paula. Which do you think will be most effective? :-D :-D

The water tank has burst and the 3 spare bedrooms have been flooded. We didn't want you to have to sleep in the cottage in the grounds or the orangery. So I have asked my dear brother in Leamore, Onslow, and his wife Daisy to put you up in their beautiful flat.

How lovely to see you both. Can I show you some favourite yoga positions?

At least you lot have made me smile. All of your comments/suggestions have been duly noted.. It is a get together for OH before he retires, with colleagues past and present, this young man is one of his ex apprentices. We will just have to make the best of the night.

I will keep you posted :-D :-D

Paula it´s a cheek, I would always wait to be asked, would never text to ask over a phone call even if I knew the people. The reasons for you saying no have amused me and I must remember some of them. As you can´t get out of it I would during the evening make a comment about " you did offer to pay for us in lieu of rent for B&B didn´t you ? " or something similar !

Enjoy the evening anyway
