Ok, we have new carpets.

So now what I would like to do is buy something that will spread the load of the furniture so the carpets don't end up with dents, but I don't know what they are called or where to get them from.
Any ideas anyone.

furniture cups - found mine on amazon. Two different sizes.

If you do get 'dents' in carpets place an ice cube in it and leave overnight

Furniture gliders or sliders. There are different types - some for moving furniture and some to protect your floor or carpet. Just google.

As Chris says - an ice cube melted overnight in dents in the carpet, let it dry and then vacuum. I've been told a few times in furniture shops that this works although I've never tried it myself. Our room is too small to move furniture around.
