I once bought a tatty suite in a style I liked, from a charity shop, and had it picked up by an upholsterer who brought it back to like a new suite, wood parts polished all internal stuffing and support sorted out and new fabric, it looked wonderful. It cost me a third of the price of a new suite yet looked and felt like a new suite. I sold it after a few years to a friend when I moved house and had a different shaped room but wish I had hung on to it, it was lovely. One chair was a swivel rocker type and so comfy.

Our chair arm was accessed from underneath .was wondering how it would be done and wasn't sure if I wanted the chair mucked about with as we only had it delivered end Feb .
Was pleased though with how well and carefully it was done . Better than waiting for a new chair which may not have matched colourwise to the settee and static armchair

Perhaps you just need to level out the piles of cash you've got stashed under the sofa ;-)

Do you mean that the seat cushions can't be lifted off?
Could you turn the settee etc on its back and access the seats from the underside? You might be able to thread a piece of plywood or some foam or similar up through the springs.

If your suite is worth saving then I would recommend getting an upholsterer in .

W e recently bought new leather furniture and I wasnt happy with the way one arm on the recliner chair was creasing .went back to the shop and complained and they sent an upholsterer out from a firm that does guarantee work on suites.

He said the filling under the leather wasnt springing back after it was depressed and said he would put some more filling in . Couldnt see how he could do it without opening seams but he took the chair apart til he was able to get under the the top of the arm packed it a bit more and put it all back again as new.

He said he had just spent 5 hours replacing the boards in each arms of a sofa and two chairs that had broken .

A good upholsterer can make a good repair and renew the life of furniture

I had a problem with the seat cushions on the suite and took them to an upholstery firm who meansured them then ordered new foam. When it was ready I went back and they replaced the old stuff with the new, and they are great now. I am sure there must be a way to do this with your suite, why not get someone round for an estimate. For 5 new cushions it cost £120 for the best quality foam.

Another way would be to get some feather pillows and make them into a narrow shape by moving the filling over and sewing a line down the middle or two thirds, and put those on your seats, again with a throw over. If there is a space tuck the unfilled part in so they stay in place more easily. I got one of those nice Indian cotton throws for about £15, so easy to wash and they last for ages, especially if you turn them round every so often. They come in a variety of colours and sizes.

I have some of those folding board things that are sold to slide under the seat of your saggy old suite.

How about putting small cushions on the saggy bits, then covering the whole seat with a throw.
*kea do wonderful fleece throws (Polarvide) in various colours, red, white lilac, and I have a black one, not sure if they still do that colour, for £3. You could have one for the settee and cut one in half for each of the chairs - without having to then sew any seams to stop it fraying :-D

My settee and two arm chairs are sagging at the back (seat part) and I need something to level them up a bit, bolster pillows are to big so are throws. They have to be something that can just be put on them as it isn't possible to get under the cushions.
