Now Dizzi, that is something worth looking after.

Especially if it was made by the Mouseman rather than from his factory after his death.

You lucky lucky girl.

Just what you are looking for on GumtreeNorfolk, it's in Diss, £35 unused and was £250 It was on there 6 days ago but might be sold by now. Came from Adlers in Ipswich.

(I wasn't looking for this item, spotted it when looking for something else_

Before you shell out on a footstool DC might be good idea to check with your OT or physio or nurse that sitting with your feet up on a footstool is alright for you and not putting your body in a 'stress' position. Don't want to end up with problems with your lower back. xx

Have you looked at Ikea. A fair variety both in terms of prices and design.
Good luck with the search

I know Cheshire is a bit far away! It was the first one I came to that seemed to be what you wanted.

This one, with storage, is in Grays, Essex, a bit nearer (and there's also one in Ealing, but without storage).

My friends daughters MIL brought a very very expensive three piece suite with a lovely long upholstered matching footstool. Friends daughter loved it but could not afford anything like it, she went to several car boot sales and saw for £5.00" one almost identical, but in need of renovating. She went to a night school class and recovered it herself, I have not seen it yet, but my friend said it looks absolloutely beautiful.

Ohoops so sorry I only just noticed your comments to purple about being disabled

Andysmum - I live in London - Knutsford is a bit of a trek.

Maua - make my own - I am disabled. I can barely make it to the loo some days!!!

Purple - I want something a bit more classy than that. Sorry, but when dealing with my likes and dislikes think Hyacinth Bucket!!! I am trying to make my spare room into a sanctuary.

The picture that Andysmum shows the type I would consider, would prefer one that has legs and castors. And would love it if it also had storage.

All your suggestions are much aprreciated. And most of those places suggested have been looked at several times this last week.

I think that in London people either hold on to them or sell them privately. And to be honest some folk think their old furniture is worth far more than it actually is.

Tomorrow, will be calling local Emmaus and BHF shops to see if they have anything. I know my neighbour bought a beautiful small leather chesterfield from our local Emmaus and they have recently taken several items (last week) from us.

What about one of folding folding stools/leg rests from the brochures in magazines etc? You can easily have a replacement cover made to match, from about half a metre of fabric or do it yourself. They are under £20 I think they still have them in the Kleeneze books.

How about posting a request on your local free cycle group?

Another possibility is to ask at any auction houses in your area - they could probably tell you if footstools come up at house clearances.

Is this what you are looking for?

The Preloved site is a bit like ebay, but without the bidding and commission free. You can look at it without joining - use the above link, stopping at uk. Then put footstools in the Search box - there are hundreds, although many are part of a set including sofas.

It is free to join. If you choose to pay the annual fee of £5 you get priority on all new ads. You deal direct with the seller and it is a lot less complicated than ebay.

Oh that brought back memories.

When I was married, one evening when hubby was over the road in the pub, I decided to change the front room around.

It looked lovely after I had done it.

Went to bed, was woken up by an almight crash.

He had come home, not bothered to turn on the lights and fallen over the big glass coffee table which was now in a totally different place.

Luckily the table was not broken. :-D

Be warned!
Years ago I was working for a guy who had his leg in plaster.
I asked him what he had done was he skiing or something?

"No" he said " I was in the paras, must have done hundreds of jumps without a scratch, then I fell over the footstool in the lounge!" ;-) ;-)

I am going to have 2 old armchairs (totally different designs) reupholstered. One a wing chair which I wanted to have in the bedroom with a footstool so I can sit and read there when I cannot sleep or get comfy.

So I thought I would buy a footstool and have it covered in the same material. Wanted one that had a bit of storage as well. Wanted one with legs and castors, with storage.

WELL, all I can say is that I must have expensive tastes, all the ones I like are over £250.00 for a footstool!!!!

They are having a laugh.

Went on Gumtree, non in my area. Went on ebay non in my area (saw a great one for £5.00 really cheap!) . Now will be phoning my 2 local furnuture charity shops to see if they have anything.

I even found a shop where you could buy them covered in calico, so you could have your own material fitted. £299.00

I am gobsmacked.

Off now to sit in a darkened room to calm down ;-)
