Not since I was a child, listening to it with my Granny! :-D

Is it good now?

Von Report 3 Apr 2016 22:03

Maggie
I usually just listen the next day but after your comment I just listened to it.
As you say Ooooo- errrrr

There will be letters and tweets. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have listened to the Archers for a lot of years. The plot between Rob and Helen
Tichener is well acted and scary. I can't wait to hear what Kirsty will do tomorrow.

Kense Report 3 Apr 2016 22:45

I've never forgiven the Archers for taking over Dick Braton's slot.
:-(

Prickly - no (lovely) spiders!

Jemima - you wouldn't want to listen with your granny now - I was glad my grandchildren left before it came on!

Von - I wonder if it has broken the 9pm 'watershed'

Kandj - it has been hard to listen to.

I've never been a fan of Helen's, but no-one deserved that piece of doo-da.

I'm off to IKEA tomorrow with daughter and grand daughter (grand daughter's birthday treat???? - she's 14!!!) but I'm not complaining :-D

Kense :-D :-D :-D
Dick Barton was before my time - but I do listen when it's on Radio 4 extra!!

Anything that brings narcissism to the fore has to be good. It is, by it's very nature, something that is so secret that many find it more comfortable to pretend does not exist.

It is considerably harder to live with than it is to listen to or read about.

I can imagine it is harder to live with, than listen to, Sharron.
Unfortunately the law only regards partners as victims at the moment - but 'The Archers' also highlighted the effect on Helen's son.

My 'driver' stopped listening to it. He couldn't properly explain why - but said he thought it 'unrealistic'.
His mum was a b*tch. Possibly a narcissistic b*tch, from what he's said.

Rob's father Bruce appears later his week - That should be interesting!!!

maggiewinchester Report 4 Apr 2016 09:02

Interesting. Will he be like his wife, son or neither??

kandj

kandj Report 4 Apr 2016 10:08

I am waiting for tonight's episode, I don't think the evil Rob will be killed off, but
I could be wrong. I read because of this particular story line, that a lot of money was being donated on a JustGiving site for victims of domestic abuse. I'll check it out.

kandj

kandj Report 4 Apr 2016 22:46

Donations over £80,00 given to JustGiving for domestic abuse charities from
listeners of the Helen and Rob Tichener story line. It is so powerful and very
well acted........ oh, and Rob isn't dead!! Interesting to follow this strong thread.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 4 Apr 2016 22:59

It will be interesting to see how Rob plays this one!!
He insisted she was mentally unbalanced - it may go in her favour, but may depend on whether or not Rob is psycho-analysed.

Really good about the donations :-D

Do you remember the son of the first husband of Caroline beat up Debbie and somebody else he was in a relationship with, I can't remember who?

I have always thought Helen might be narcissistic.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 4 Apr 2016 23:32

Narcissistic or self- obsessed?
The whole Henry thing - 'I want a baby, I shall have one' is a bit strange.
As I said earlier, I've never been a fan of hers.

Unfortunately, emotional abuse IS an everyday occurrence :-(

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2016 12:42

It has occurred to me that The Archers was begun as a way to instruct farmers in particular so it is really an instructional programme that has now shown the correct way to deal with an emotionally abusive partner.

Well, that will sort the buggers out then!

Make them think twice before they start their emotionally abusive capers anyway.
