We've been married for 47 years today and his Mother said it would not last. She also said I would not make old bones but I will be 70 on 8th May. Stupid old bat, she never liked me from the start 'cause I took her boy away.

We are still very happy together.

We'll hit 50 years in August, and like you, I had a b* of a m-i-l ...... she even told OH that he should divorce me because I was only after her money :-S We'd been married almost 20 years at that point!

She finally died in 1993 and half her estate came to OH ....... we still refer to it as "his money", I won't touch it.

F-i-l was a wonderful man!

I never had a mother in law - her death was how ex and I met - but by all accounts she was a lovely lady, as was my father in law, who I unfortunately knew for only a few years before he too died.
