Just found this in my 'Hotmail' account. I don't use it much, but occasionally look through it for gems like this:

HM Revenue & Customs

* Our stuff HMRC will thank you for your time also for you trust.
* Your tax refund are now ava ilable .
* Please find and download the attached PDF REFUND and follow the instruction
* We mention that the information you enter in the form must be corect, otherwise we will not be able to trans fer.

I also received a letter this morning - about claiming PPI.
Their search is FREE, and they will "help you reclaim on a 'no-win no-fee' basis".
Shame I claimed mine back, all on my own 4 years ago, and didn't have to share it with freeloaders.

My Hotmail account isn't in my name - it's a nickname - a name that doesn't exist - (apart from being a Jordanian property firm, I've just found out!) and is the one I use when shops insist on an e-mail address.
This letter is addressed to my nickname! :-D

Not sure whether I shall be sending it back suggesting they neither bother me by phone nor post, as 'that' person doesn't exist, and I resent my e-mail address details being sold to freeloaders, or to go ahead and ask them to find out if a fictitious person had PPI :-D :-D :-D

It's sad that some people do fall for these emails and phone calls, for the thousands they send every day it only takes a few to pay up or download the virus etc for it to be profitable for them.

I agree, Caroline.
What really annoys me are governments who say they will track personal information and viewing history, yet claim there is no way of blocking these thieving whatnots! :-| :-|

I didn't mean blocking - I meant shutting down!!
Yes, I know I can block them - but they keep changing address :-|
