Hi, I hope this is proper information to post here. I've ht a big brick wall with razor wire on top! If families immigrated from Cornwall between 1881 to 1900, how can I locate records? I've looked in U.S. records, but can't find anything for Australia or maybe Canada or ?? These families just disappeared from site ~~ in 1871 several of the wives are shown as head of families, but married; so, I'm assuming the husbands are either in the military or are checking jobs out in other countries. If any of these names are familiar I would really appreciate any information: Doble; James; Williams; Cook

Hi Nadine...again. I don,t live in Cornwall but have loads of dead rellies from there. Oddly enough, mine also moved away during that time too....mostly to other parts of Britain. Have you checked to see if they are on any census 1891,1901 etc? Mine were all ships carpenters and moved to where the work was. Also, it was around this time that the tin mines in Cornwall became un-productive and a lot went to America and the Colonies. Good luck with your search.

Carol,
It's taken me two years to answer your reply!! Just found out how to find my way around here. In that two years, I've been able to track my missing Cornwall ancestors to South Africa; Australia; and the US.
In one case, we "traveled" from Cornwall to SA, to Australia, and ended up in San Francisco ~ about 100 miles from where I lived.
What old rellies do you have from Cornwall? I'm making a trip there in September and am so excited to finally get to see everything myself.

Hi Nadine, Wow, I havn,t been on this site for ages and picked today to have a look-in. I,m pleased you have been able to find some of your rellies. Mine all moved to other parts of the U.K. with just one lot going out to Australia
Funnily enough, last time I answered your query, I was packing to go over to England....which is what I,m doing now. I,m hoping to be in Cornwall in July or August.
Hope you enjoy your visit and find lots of info.
