Unknown Report 14 Feb 2005 16:14

Valentines Day I have been inundated with cards, flowers offers I cannot mention. Then I woke. You can't stop dreaming can you??? RUPERT I am sorry it has taken so long to welcome you to our thread but what with internet breakdown and messages going astray it has been left to our June(MOTHER) to do the honours. I am Jim and for some unknown reason I have been Dubbed as the court Jester, can't think why!! In reality I am as sober as a Judge. I was born in Aston in 1923 and that I believe makes me the oldest of all us Brummies. In body only, in mind I am nowt but a young un!!!. Don't be afraid to say what you want we are all broadminded, as you will find as the days fly past. Well folks it is Mary's Cuppa time so I will have to close for now and hope my message is not lost once again . TTFNTWMALOL From Jim Get the kettle on and Thirsty Mary C.

Good Afternoon Rupert, Lovely to see you back with us. When you get on our site click where it says EARLIEST REPLY FIRST the you will get the last letter sent in. Then you can take it from there. That was our John who sent that mail to you. Our poor Jim did a long mail with a big welcome to you but he pressed the button to send and it went, but not on the site. But I am sure he will keep trying till he gets on. I talk to Pam in Oz on the MSN messenger, but at the moment she has trouble with her computer, she is very nice. Infact all our friends here are nice. We have Jan & Rick who should be on soon only at the week end they went off to London. They are both good for a laugh. These two will be getting married in April so much pulling their legs by us all. By the way its bitter cold here as well and we have our heating turned on full blast. Take care now I will be back later. Tat Tar June.

Rupert Report 14 Feb 2005 15:01

Hello June, new boy(?) Rupert here . seems I made some happy memories for one member with my introduction so quite happy about that. Those were the days when gangs meant boys being boys (and girls too)and doing no more harm than harmless cricket and football games hop scotch and the like. Mind my wife mentions she played 'Kiss Chase' a pursuit I did not practice for some years Ahemmm. The weather here today is very cold and have had to keep the heating going since 10 am. Maybe its because I had my haircut or the blood is thinning out. I had great difficulty in finding the end of the pages when I posted my first piece. Put up a thread asking where has it gone. Had 2or3 or more answers and took me a time to find it even then. I must take anote of the names on here because my memory (used to be brilliant) is not now as good. Well its 3pm and will go and make the better half a cupper. Bye for now Rupert. PS that bit about boys being boys and gils too is not quite right but I hope you know what I meant. R

Good Morning All, I will try again, I must have the bug that our Jim has I have just done a message and clicked send and its all gone. Now are John, whats all this the old girl Cheek. Ok I was born in 1936 but I am only 28 years old in my mind laughter I did have a smile when you were saying about the Bobby I remember I was pulled up once by a copper, reason was I was having a ride on the cross bar of a lads bike I was only 10 at the time. Heck did he tell us off and I never did it again as next time he would have told my mom and dad. Then I would have been in trouble Did think you had to be 100 years old to get a free passport LOL that would then mean you would have either gone into the great blue yonder or would have lost interest in going any where. The Goverment are not daft you know laughter. They dont like people having things for free. Well all for now so fingers crossed this mail will be ok. Bye for now Tat Tar June..

Hiya All - It's that man again! 'There'll be bluebirds over' etc. Hi Rupert, my you brought back some memories. As a lad I used to belong to a sort of gang (I say sort of, because the gangs in those days were just lads who didn't mean any harm), kindred spirits from just a few streets around. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we used to go exploring and one day we ended up at a building site which was the Queen Elizabeths still under construction. We were completely lost - of course! We went to The Gold Cross pub to ask directions home, the landlord gave us all a glass of milk and a couple of buscuits each while he sent for the local 'Bobby', who put us on a bus (and payed our fare) to the King's Head, which we knew and could get home from. 'There's nothing like the old time bobby, when you can't find your way home' ;-))))))))} Born 1931 you're in between old Jim and me, I'm 1933 - See June I aint got long before I get my freebie Passport, then world watch out here I come! I must get back to my paper ducks, I'm a 'Black Belt' at it dontcher know! 8-((((((} Tarrarabit - John (one of the three musketeers according to June who can't count - forget yer 'ead if it was loose wouldn't yer ol' girl?) ;-)))))))} lololol

Having scanned the posts on this thread (all 20 pages) Could I please apply for honoury membership. I'm getting a bit old now born in 1931 in Harborne ( near to the Queen Eliabeth Hospital) although it was'nt built and opened until 1937. I met my only other real love there. That was 1947 Oh for those days .You missed the last bus and walked home, all the trouble you had was to cross the road if a drunk came by you. Moved to Tamworth in 1957 our first house (brand new) 3 bedrooms lounge 26feet long garage space price £ 1585, Mortgage just under £9 amonth . Wage £13 a week. Moved back to a new house in Lordswood Rd. Harborne in 67, and to a job in Melbourne Oz in 70. took family of 3 girls and all furniture and moved into our house 1month later. Returned to England 4years later due to ill health of Barbara (wife) home sick. bought house again in Harborne moved to Tamworth again in 1981. and here I am.
