Hi Ann - blimey girl you have been busy. Is'nt Paris lovely - one of my fav places was Monte Blanc (can't spell) and The Louvre - l cried in there at some of the paintings and the atmosphere (whats different - l'm always crying!!!). We had our portraits drawn on the river bank, not bad!!!(well actually they were drawn on paper - we sat on the bank!!! lol). Have just printed this whole thread off - 7 pages, but its chopped abit off the right edge, deleting some words, can anyone suggest anything ???? Thank you Ann for that idea, did'nt think of it meself. Ooooooooooo just got a text from son in Sri Lanka - they are sending piccies of honeymoon at about 3.30 via email, Ohhhhcan't wait t see them:o))))))))) Sister has just phoned, she'll be here soon and we will go for a chippie lunch and search the charity shops:o) in Chepstow. Hi all, Ann I love Monet too. I visited Monet's gardens once - beautiful. We have had beautiful sunshine here today. I first went to the doctor to let her see my toe. She was not 100% happy, but knew I was going on holiday and said come back when you've had your holiday and we may have to take a piece of the nail away. I then went with my neighbour into town and bought lots of odds and ends. She bought two lovely pairs of winter trousers. We had lots of laughs. We went round the market and I'm always game for a laugh with the stallholders. My husband went to the library - didn't want to come with us. I cannot understand why!! I've now contact with a niece and nephew whom I've not seen for some 15 years. Why do we only see family at weddings and funerals? These children (the boy is 58 years) want to come and see me after my holiday. I said come for coffee, and my cheeky niece replied that after such a long time she expects more than coffee! Looks like I'll be cooking again! Well, I've done my bit for today and am feeling a bit tired, so will leave you all. Ta ta, Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, This thread's got very busy with weddings and trips to Paris etc. So much happening! Jude, Interesting honeymoon destination - Sri Lanka. Do you know why they picked Sri Lanka? When I first started searching my husband's family we found that one of his ancestors b 1781 in Lambeth England went to (Ceylon) and married a Dutch woman and their children were born there. One of the offspring came to NZ in the 1840s. That's just a bit of useless information but I've had some wonderful help from an English lady who was also born there.

Morning all - you lot have me hooked now, l thought l'd just tell you about the wedding and be offfff - but no l take peek 2 or 3 times aday as you can see!!!!!! Elisabeth - this past year must have been so hard for you all, l've not met you but chatted via email a few times and now here, you always sound so positive and you're always there with words of comfort:o) My garden needs attention, l have megga amount of weeds down the bottom - but l blame you lot!!!!!!! Hi Lou - Was the move to the baby unit your idea, l remember you talking about your work at Webbs, but can't remember if you said you wanted a change or not?? Fancy hubby locking himself out, l would have left him there!!!! lol. Hows his elbow?? Christine - don't know really why they chose Sri Lanka, l think they looked through the brochures and came across it like you do - they would have wanted somewhere very special and l think they have found that. Son got quite upset at the reception cause a nephew of mine had been there before and said how poor the people are. He suggested son took some pens and note/drawing pads for the children - one pen out there would cost a weeks wages - so son was going to stock up - bless, he's like me it would upset him greately to see poverty. l was so looking forward to the photo's via email - never mind will have to be patient!! Brenda - l really am so pleased with these curtains. My 2 back bedroom windows are divided by a wall so its almost like the window has been split in 2. Each window has one curtain and the smaller pair fit perfectly - the larger pair will fit my room although they'll need shortening. When l saw them l rummaged in my bag for the measurements, could l find them - NOPE!!!! but bought them anyway with fingers and toes tightly crossed - hubby was not impressed at my buying them and would av been furious if they were wrong size - the old fart!!!!! lol lol (he's lovely really honest). The manageress in shop is new to the shop, she used to work else where in town and we got talking annnnnnnd l might start vol work with her one day a week. All the charity shops now adays are desperate for help. She was saying that she wants to smarten the shop up and make changes, l said don't make to much change especially new fitments unless really necessary the customers don't like it - they want the money spent on the charity - a customer over heard me and said "yep you're right there". Whoooosh a jet has just flown over - when we had Lady we would both rush out to see it, her barking her head off and tripping me up on the way!!!!!:o( Think l had better stop now - could go on for ever - waffle waffle waffle:o) Jude sarf wales

Hi everyone Another lovely sunny morning, there must be some washing somewhere, cant miss this weather, lol. Jude, you are right this thread is very addictive, its quite a while since I joined and there's very few days I have missed. Everyone is so friendly. Pity the photos couldn't be emailed but at least you have them to look forward to. You were very lucky with those curtains, you got a real bargain there, I reckon one of your ancestore was guiding you to them. Every time a plane flies over Beckham runs out barking, BA at Warton and at Salmesbury are quite near to us and they fly over when testing, sometimes it is rather noisy, but not too often thankgoodness. Brenda, I hope Auntie is making good progress, the friends I have that have them fitted are great, I cant keep up with them. I love Paris but must admit have always gone for a long weekend. Fancy you and Ann may be in Teneriffe at the same time, you could have a meetup but dont tell anyone they will want to join you. (Remember how Manchester started) Hope the photos are sorted tonight. Christine, I found that very interesting about your ancestors in Sri Lanka, it must be good when you come across a titbit like that instead of arg, labourer, stone mason etc. The only titbit I have is my grandfather changing his name but I dont know why. Lou, I didn't know you were changing jobs, I hope it was your own decision to do that. Good Luck to Bex with her interview and I hope Kris is feeling better, How on earth did Cliff manage to lock himself out? Elisabeth, I agree, those books must be worth quite a lot of money, there must be someone that would give an arm and a leg for them. My friend across from me lives on the corner, in her side garden, there is a beautiful magnolia which is opposite my lounge window, I actually see more of it than she does, but she prunes that most years. I hope mum is well. Ann, I hope you are resting gathering up your strength for Teneriffe. Bill, Di, JA, William, Crista and all, hope you are alright. Enjoy your day, see you tomorrow. Love June xx

Hi all, Well I've packed my case, changed the beds, washed everything and ironed it all. I cheat because I throw almost everything in the drier. Can't be bothered going outside to hang it up - pure laziness!! My daughter phoned me, it seems she doesn't know what to do with herself either. She said Isn't it lovely weather, so I said yes I can see that too. I'm sure we'll have more to talk about tomorrow when we see each other. It's so nice to "see" such a lot of faces, and to hear about your everyday lives. It makes me feel part of GB again. See you over a week, don't run away. Sylvia xxx

Hi All Well I had better check this thread more often, I didn't have time until now and it has got away from me, sorry. I love it because it is like the correspondence magazines I belong to where youw rite letters to several people at once. I have had to print off the thread so that I can anser it properlyy. It reads like a lovely long letter. Jude: It printed off OK for me so it must be something to do with your printer. If you want to print off your bits try copying and pasting to Word, you should then be able to print it OK. I wonder if the reason that your son couldn't send the photos was because theyw ere not in JPEG? Just a thought, you know the problem I have had sometimes when you have e mailed me photos? The curtains seemed like a good bargain, haven't been to Chepstow shopping for years, used to go there a lot when we lived in Lydney. I didn't hear that jet, it can't have come our way then:)) Sylvia have a great holiday, the packing is the worst part I always think, I always have the feeling that I have forgotten something, even though I keep holiday packing lists on the computer. Hope that your toe does not cause you trouble on holiday. Brenda, you have started something here, it is very addictive. We fly to tenerife on friday 10th September from Gatwick. The first week we are staying in our timeshare at Chayofa which is just above Los Christianos in the hills. The second week we are at the complex Fanabe Lobos, not been there before although we have been to Fanabe. Paris is wonderful as long as the weather is good, like everywhere else it is not so nice in the rain. There is always a good atmosphere and people seem to be enjoying themselves. Lou: Hope you are continuing to enjoy the babies, no doubt you miss the toddlers because you had got to know them so you will soon feel at home with the babies. Christine: Hi No information re family history is useless information. it is all fascinating, I can't claim anyone from exotic places so far, Canada is the furthest any of mine went. I have spent quite a while sorting out part of my family though. My Dad's cousin and I couldn't work out why her Mother's family and my Grandmother's family were so friendly. It turns out that myy Grandmother's brother married a half cousin. My Great Grandfather's Father had 2 wives, both sisters. My Gt grandfather was the son of his first wife, my Father's cousin's Gt grandmother was the daughter of his second wife. So her grandfather was also her Great Uncle!!!!:))) I bet you can't fathom that out. June: Yes it is sunny here too today, a really beautiful day again and it looks as though the weekend might be good too. I don't know about resting and gathering strength. My daughter stayed on until this morning (Jon and the boys went home Monday) as shewas working in Bristol. We have more visitors coming for 2 nights on Saturday, on their way to their holiday in cornwall, so i have had to strip the bed, wash the sheets and clean the bedroom ready for them. Plus the cupboards were bare so had to do a shop, and the house was a tip after the family being here so that has to be cleaned. i will certainly need that holiday. JA hello, we haven't spoken so i don't know if you are male or female but no matter, everyone else obviously knows you. Pleased to 'meet' you. I think that is me up to date. Looking at the time I am now going to admit to a vice - I am going to watch Neighbours - OK it's trashy but I watch it, don't ask me why but it started when i used to watch it to relax when i got in from work. don't have that excuse now but I still watch it most days. Cheers Ann Glos

hello Everyone,my goodness it has taken me ages to read all your messages, but it was great like opening a long awaited letter from a very good friend. Christine, the nearest I have got to with exotic locations for rellis is Tipperary !! so i would love someone in a far flung corner of the world. Elizabeth at the moment i could do with a new brain to help me read instructions for this thing I just keep getting it all wrong somehow.Hope the shrub in your Mums garden appreciates the TLC. Jude have gone to buy lots of household items many times without the measuremnts, which are in a book in the other bag!! Had a walk round the local market today which is known as the flea market as it is second hand stuff on Thursday.thought I might see something I need but no luck. June ,phoned my aunt this morning to see if the visit was still ok ,no answer, tried again later still no answer.Dad said he would not go all that way without knowing she was in,so we did not go.Finally got her on the phone at 4.30 ,she had been having probalems with the phone and as we had not phoned her she wasn't expecting us anyway. still no joy with the pics ,getting very annoyed with myself now. JA hope the elections don't take to much out of you.Just say hello when you can. Ann,we go to Tenerife on 17 Sept ,we stay at the Vulcano in Las Americas, which is very near Los cristianos.,Which you will know having a time share. Is Fanabe Lobos the other side of Las Americas past Torviscas? Have to go girls, have to phone a friend to give her some bad news about an old collegues husband. She is out Thursday night till about now ,goes for a curry from work. Take care Brenda

Brenda, Fanabe is on the end of Las Americas (not Los Cristianos end.) Yes it is past Torviscas. this is an experiment, we usually have one week at Chayofa and one at Golf Sur but we visited the beach at fanabe last year and liked it and thought we'd try a eek there this year. The experiment is that this year we have not so far got a hire car. At Chayofa we don't need one becaue there is a courtesy but but at fanabe we don't know what there is. We can probably walk along to las Americas but i am sure there will be a bus to L Cristianos, (which we prefer to las americas. elizabeth, I thtink i may have missed you out last time - sorry it was not intentional. Thank you for your last e mail, we had a lovely anniversary in Paris as you will have read. Ann glos

Hello its me again - sitting here thinking "go and do some ironing" then thinking again "nah":o) The plan is l will be busy tomorrow,so might not get on here as much (joke!!! lol) Honestly l must do some housework, plus this afternoon we had to go to Hereford to take an armchair in for repair - whilst there we decided to look at dinning room table and chairs ANNNND you got it, bought one (no money in the bank though) - sooo the computer now has to go upstairs either in the small bedroom or the storeroom (16ft x 8ft),the only thing with storeroom is the ceiling slopes!!!! and it has a major draft which needs attending too. B.i.l. will help at the weekend, also with drilling of holes for pooter wires(modem etc) sooo l need to sort the mess by pooter all the bits of paper, the folders etc etc - hopefully once l'm settled upstairs l will have shelves etc and be sooooo organised - table could be delivered early next week!. Next Wednesday l am planning to go to London, my godson is having fairly major surgery on his back and l want to be there before the op and after. He has a condition called DIASTEMATOMYELIA,which has only just been diagnosed and he's now 13yrs old. Will meet my daughter and we'll go to hosp together, then l'll stay with her and go back next day after op. Spoke to his mum this evening and she has to phone the hosp 9.30am on Wed to make sure there is a bed for him - so now don't know whether to book coach or not, would l get a seat the day l want to go???? if not l'll have to go the day of op.She's going to ring Wed a.m as soon as she knows. June - we are near Fairford, we've had a few jets over today, quite often we get those gian helicopters with double blades - Lady really got excited at them You tell Beckham (B E C K H A M!!!! not after thee Beckham??) go get em!!!!! Hi JA, have seen your name before but don't think we have exchanged messages. What a good idea, yes this is our history for the future(does that sound right??), think l will print it each day:o) Ann - gawd knows whats wrong with son's camera, l assume they have taken her work laptop, they know as much about camera's and pooters as l do, or less!!!!!!!!! Good idea re pasting this to word will try that in a mo.Everything l print from here has chunks missing, usually one or two words off the right - grrrrrrr. If l don't remember - Do have a lovely holiday:o) Have you heard from Daphne - l have'nt for a few weeks now, she phoned here leaving a message cause we were out, l phoned back and left a message to check she was ok,then emailed her,but nuffin yet and have'nt seen her name on brds for a while. l still have'nt heard from work if l have work next week or not,thy start back on Monday too - praps they don't want me:o((((( and l've left 2 messages :o( Sylvia - l do the same with my washing, sometimes though l forget its in the tumbler and it gets really creased - derrr! I'm off now, give you all a rest:o))))) Jude sarf wales

Kathleen Report 3 Sep 2004 00:30

Hi everyone Jude - my thoughts on ironing - it will still be there tomorrow!! Though I'm sure it breeds overnight as there always seems to be twice as much the next day. My husband was stationed at Fairford so I lived there for a while when I came out of the airforce, my eldest son was born in Cirencester. Of course now I have Heathrow just down the road but we don't get too much noise nowadays. Was a different story when we first moved here before they built the new runways to accommodate the 747's - and later Concorde. Sylvia I hope you enjoy your holiday and that your toe does not give you too much pain. We have had a lovely sunny day, just comfortably warm but it can be a little chilly first thing and at night but I suppose that is to be expected now. I really don't like the fact that it is getting dark earlier and earlier. My youngest granddaughter has popped in and out several times today, she is getting tall now. Long legs and looking so grown up these days, hates her freckles, hates her hair because it keeps going curly. It's long and she spends hours straightening it, only for it to go curly again. As grown up as she likes to be she still loves her cuddles with Nan. Should have cleaned my windows today but the sun was shining on them - they go all smeary then don't they? Well that's my excuse. It has been one of those days when I seemed to be busy but getting nowhere. One of my 'grasshopper' days, when I start to do one thing and get sidetracked into doing something else. Have to cut this short now - my friend has just rung me and needs a shoulder to cry on. Hope you all have a good day tomorrow - I will be back!! Love Kathleen

Do you here from Peter anymore???? hope he is ok. Elisabeth - l know!! you can always email me. Are you going to Gaynors meet up on 16th Oct?? would be lovely to meet you as well:o) Hope everyone is well, sorry if l miss anyone out anytime. Lou - where are you?? we want to know how the job is going! l had a call from sister lastnight to say she'd just had phone call from her son who is in Australia on holiday with partner - he had planned it all down to the very last detail and PROPOSED to her sitting opposite the opera house by the bridge, as he proposed fireworks went off - don' think he planned that though!! They phoned my sister both in tears - its such a lovely story cause he has had a rough time in the past re: partners and this lady is a diamond - l hope they will be so happy together, they deserve it:o) Right thats it until lunch time if l can last that long - byeeeee:o( Nearly forgot - those curtains, when l unravelled them properly l found that l have 2 prs and an extra long one,so the 2 prs will do 3 roms, not sure what to do with the long one yet!! Not to mention some of the weird wildlife They are both keeping well, still competing with the Roos and Emus on the golf course. J.A. do you ever get to Peter's area in your travels? I bet you cover a few miles in a week with all that travelling. Sorry if I haven't got time to mention everyone but I'm sure no one will get upset, we are all too sensible for that. Kathleen, Isn't it lovely when the young ones keep popping to see us, keeps you young, up to date with all the new trends etc. Elisabeth, I think you deserve a break after pruning that magnolia, dont overdo it now. Is this the first time you have met Peter's girlfriend? Last night I went to bed as normal, then I wakened up about 4 and couldn't get back to sleep, so I I switched on my laptop and had a lovely chat with Gwen then finally went back to sleep, as a result I didn't wake up till 9. I haven't much planned for today as yet but I am sure something will crop up, it usually does. Just got to to sort something out will be back later. Love June xx
