AnninGlos Report 7 Sep 2004 21:47

Evening all (now i sound like Dixon of D.G. and that dates me!!) haven't been on the boards much today, well just a quick glance earlier and din't see anything that interested me so didn't stop. Had quite a busy day, washing then making a load of tomatoes into a sauce to freeze for later use with pasta. then getting clothes etc ready for the holiday, i have sort of half packed. it isn't the clothes it's the bits and pieces that you have to take, beach mat, towels, charger and adaptor (for camera batteries), then as we self cater i usually take T bags as they are dearer there, books to read - must have those, hand wash, torch. I keep a holiday ;ist on my computer so that i don't forget anything. Then we had a hair appointment, had to pick up the car from the garage where it was having a service (another £54.) We go to a hotel on Thursday as we leave the car there free and they take us to the airport on friday morning. Jude Have you thought of another name for new Lady yet?....Could be Lassy!!! Difficult changing her name as she will need to get used to the new one. Do you know why she was re-homed? I think the person who moved that Peter used to talk to was possibly a Brenda. There were a lot of people who used to chat back then that have 'disappeared' arent there? Shame really. All the best Ann Glos Ann

June Report 8 Sep 2004 08:20

Hi everyone Its lovely and sunny here again, the only drawback is the plants are so dry, I will have to go and water them. I am typing on my new keyboard, its lovely, the trouble is I haven't got an excuse for my bad typing now have I.Dont tell Peter, he always teases me about my typing. Lou, sorry Cliff and Bex didn't get the jobs, but I always think there is a good reason behind it although we dont see it at the time. Hope your cold is soon better and dont mess around with the other problem, get back to the hospital. You do have your problems with trains dont you? Ann, Your holiday will soon be here now, I have a list too. I'm a right one for lists, I have a Christmas food list as well, Kath, I know what you mean about the windows, the window cleaner came yesterday, so now the windows are clean outside and its showing up the inside! There are a lot of spiders around aren't there, we also have a lot of hornets this year, it must be their type of weather. I think Sylvia brought the good weather with her, I hope she is enjoying her stay in Banbury and that her toe is better. I wonder what has happened about Jude's grandson, is it today or tomorrow, I get so muddled up these days. I hope everyone else is alright, look forward to seeing you again. See you all tomorrow. Love June xx

Chris Report 8 Sep 2004 08:52

Hi everyone, Love the new title. Lou, I haven't seen you for a while hope you're feeling better soon. Just wondering, just to talk about something different - we have that English TV programme "William and Mary" on TV here now - he's and undertaker and she's a mid-wife. We're just up to the bit where he says he's off to NZ to buy a farm! Think it's a lovely programme. We have the American version too - "Six Feet Under" do you have that too? What do you ladies think?

AnninGlos Report 8 Sep 2004 21:59

hi All, Hope all went well with your Godson Jude. I seem to have been rushing around all day sorting out clothes, mostly packed, just the creasable cloths to go in tomorrow morning, we go to the hotel tomorrow pm., leave here about 1.30. I managed to get a last wash done today, don't like leaving things in the wash bin if I can help it. I also tried to finish the monumental inscriptions that I am transcribing onto Excel but still have a few left to do, I did so many that it gave me a headache - as well as made me depressed, I keep trying to work out how long one spouse lived after the other died, then i had several children on there too. thought of a name for new dog yet Jude? Sorry this is a rushed scrawl but i wanted to add something. good to hear from you Lou but sorry you aren't too well, hope you will be better soon. Elizabeth, don't think i could manage 30 seconds on the rower before breakfast let alone 30 minutes!!! everyone else, sorry not to mention you personally, desn't mean i didn't enjoy reading your news though. In case i don't get a chance tomorrow i will rejoin you when i return from holiday. Ann Glos

June Report 9 Sep 2004 08:13

Hi everyone Its another lovely sunny day here, I must get out in the garden today, I've been saying that all week and some thing keeps cropping up. I must get out there though bescause from all accounts the weather isn't going to be so good next week. Ann, Enjoy your holiday, I wish I was coming with you. Yes I dont like leaving dirty washing behind, there's enough to do when you come back from holiday. Elisabeth, I wouldn't be able to row for 30 seconds either never mind 30 minutes. Its odd the things we can do though, I can touch my toes but my granddaughter cant but she can walk miles and I cant. Brenda, I have sent my new Email address to you, the old one only works when it feels like it. You sound as though you had a good day in Bury, must go there again sometime, another place to add to the list. Jude, You must be counting the days to you getting Lady, have you decided on a name yet? A couple of weeks ago, I bought Beckham a rubber beer bottle that squeaked, he loved it but soon tore it up, so now I've bought him a fluffy dog that barks, he loves this too and carries it all over the place. He's so pleased with himself when he makes it bark. Christine, I had forgotten about William and Mary, I thoroughly enjoyed that series, I hope there's a follow up. I dont remember 6 feet under, maybe we have that to look forward to. Lou, I hope your cold is getting better, it must be difficult with having babies around. Still with babies and toddlers, there's always one or other of them with something, that's how they build up there resistance. I hope everyone is fine and would love to hear from you. Love June xx

June Report 9 Sep 2004 08:47

Hi Lou, Sorry you are not feeling any better, how about wrapping your quilt round you and going into one of the back rooms, maybe putting some music on very low to deaden the noise of the workmen. Take care June xx

AnninGlos Report 9 Sep 2004 11:55

Hi, probably my last post before we leave for Gatwick. Lou sorry to hear you feel no better. have you got any ear plugs, you could put them in and lay on the bed to shut out the noise, or even cotton wool. have a hot lemon drink, put on some relaxing music and read a very light sloppy novel - go on spoil yourself. June, I can touch my toes too, and lie on the floor and touch the floor behind me with my feet (legs over head very undignified, grandchildren think it hilarious). I can also walk about 7 mils easily, although can't easily do steep hills these days because I have a bad back - walking doesn't affect it, but uphill does. Jude, are you still in London. If so I will speak when I return re a meet up in gloucester on lunch time - anyone else welcome to join us. Brenda, Christine and Elizabeth hope all OK with you. Ann glos speak to you all when i get back if I don't have more time today.

Chris Report 10 Sep 2004 06:22

Hi everyone, Ann, Aren't you the lucky one. I had to search for Fanabe - didn't know where it was and found some wonderful photos of Tenerife - hope you have a lovely time. Brenda and June, We got "Six feet under" before we got "William and Mary". We're on to the second series of "Six feet Under". It has all sorts of stuff in it - a lot of it is very wierd- you never know what is going to happen next! It was the last day of kindy for Erika - so last special day of one on one so we went out for lunch with my daughter. My 7 year old grandaughter came home sick so it doesn't look like she'll be going to the school disco tonight.

June Report 10 Sep 2004 08:49

Hi everyone Again its lovely and sunny today. Yesterday was so warm, I actually did a bit of tidying up in the garden aswell as giving it a good watering. Last night I was on the Chat Board and there was a really good atmosphere and the board was running well too, some times when its running slow, it gets everyones irritated. Lou, I'm glad you are feeling well enough to go back to work. Hope it goes well for Bex at the Village playgroup, why not pamper yourself tomorrow? Christine, Erika will feel a big girl now then, not at kindy anymore.Hope your 7 year old granddaughter is soon better, children usually bounce back quickly dont they? One advantage of them going to school is being able to have one to ones with a daughter. Enjoy! Ann, I know you will have left by now, have a good time. I am not as fit as you, I did have a chuckle at the thought of you with your legs in the air, hope someone had a camera handy! Its the walking that affects my back now, if I know I am going to walk any distance, I take painkillers first. cant believe its less than 10 years since I was walking 14 miles and sometimes up mountain sides. Jude, glad the operation went ahead as planned, I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Brenda, Elisabeth and everyone, I willl catch up with you later See you tomorrow Love June xx

Chris Report 10 Sep 2004 09:11

Hi June, Tell us more about your 14 mile walks and up mountainsides - did you belong to a walking or tramping group?

Unknown Report 10 Sep 2004 16:33

Hi All - what a lovely few days l have had!!!! So pleased l went to London to be with godson and his mum. The waiting for him, before he went to operating theatre was awful, then the waiting to hear when he's coming back was worse. Unfortunately he had to wait until 3.30 because the baby in next bed was in theatre for approx 6 hrs - bless, then into intensive care!!!! don't know what was wrong with the baby, but hope she 's is ok. My daughter was worried about me being in London on my on the buses and at Euston Station and wanted me to be leaving the hosp by 4pm the latest yesterday - as godson did'nt go down till late l was feeling rotten to have to leave his mum, so stayed till 7.15pm. As l was about to leave his dad, sister, auntie and sisters boyfriend arrived, l was abit pee'd cause l really had to go, so said a very quick "hello" and went:o(((( but that worked out really for them, cause godson was about to be brought back to the ward - l missed him though:o((((l have seen BIG BEN, the Eye,Houses of Parliament and all sorts all lit up and 4 times in 2 days. My daughter was so excited at being able to show me them all lit up.She was a gem - kept carrying my bag (which was heavy) and arranged all the bus times and connections etc and took me out last night for a lovely meal - when we got back to her flat we listened to cd's until 1am ,thats after l left the quick message on this brd,(up at 6.30am)and danced like idiots - we were'nt drunk but abit merry. We drank 2 bottles of wine between 3 of us and 2 shots each, ummm the shots were gorgeous - we even did the 1,2,3 and down in one!!:o)) NO HANGOVER!!!:O) Rang the hospital this morning and his mum rang back to say he had been quite tearful, could'nt feel his legs for a while, which we were warned about, but all was well about an hour later - bless. He could be in there up to 10 days, one of the concerns was meningytus, cause the op was on his back. They removed a bone that had grown through his 3rd disc and they were going to open the spinal cord, but decided to see how this op goes first. His condition begins with Dia.................,can't remember it now,but its a long word and fairly common - but the fact that it has not been detected before is not good!!! Just heard from work about my hours - l don't have Gloucester anymore :o(( but l have other hours and possibly more to come, will know more on Monday. Lou - do hope you are feeling better now and Bex is ok at new job:o)) Everyone else - l do hope you are all ok, sorry, have to go now and get some shopping in, need some exercise as well, still have a numb bum from sitting on the coach. Will read through the last few days messages again when l get home:o) We have an adoption talk tomorrow (Sat), re the dog and collect her on Sunday:o) Jude sarf wales

Unknown Report 10 Sep 2004 21:55

Me again - June, which mountains have you climbed???? Hubby has climbed Ben Nevis and Sugar Loaf, l was gunna put Mount Everest then and thought l had better ask first!! you should have the laughter from the front room!!!!!!:o)))) Still got a day and a half before we get the dog - hubby is quite happy to keep the name, but l'm thinking we should change it, we'll see though. l quite like Sassie or Sadie, but another name might spring to mind when we have had her a few days!!!! l'm sitting here thinking ' what am l doing here' l have a thousand and one things to do, like get bags packed again cause we're off at 8am tomorrow for the Adoption Talk re: the dog and then onto son's for BBQ (some hopes!!!) and photo session - he came here on Wednesday to try and print them, we did'nt get very far, won't go into that now but he's found he can do more at home than he thought, which includes viewing all the photo's on the TV screen, should be good!! It has been absolutely hissing it down here, so much so that the fat cat woud'nt go out the cat flap and sat waiting for the door to be open - oh yeh when l did l could here noises sounded like someone being ill (charming) , we looked across the road and saw 2 youths coming from neighbours back gate, very unusual so l got hubby to knock his door - they checked the gate which was open due to lock being broken for some time!!, nothing looked distrurbed so he came home, hope he does'nt find anything amiss in daylight - perhaps me opening the door for fat cat and making a noise disturbed them!!!!!! Our new dining table and chairs have arrived and console table - solid pine, very nice, even if l do say so myself. Next step is to get the pooter upstairs and that now has to wait till b i l gets back from hols - can't wait, then l will have an office/puter room and a 'whatever room' - its mine l can do what ever l like!!!!!! Fat cat has just come in very wet and rubbed himself all round my beigey trousers - bless im!!!!!:o(( Take care all, see you in a couple of days or sooner:o) Jude sarf wales

June Report 11 Sep 2004 13:39

Hi everyone, Its sunny but blustery here today. Brenda, You are making me quite breathless with all this rushing around, I think you should sit down and take 5. Have you remembered to ask your son about pubs in Manchester yet? Jude and Christine, we had a walking club where I used to work, we had a walk once a month, a coach would drop us off at various points, depending on which type of walk you wanted to do, I used to always chose one that was going over the tops. The coach would then pick us up at the other end. We walked in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and sometimes Wales. A time or two I have spent a week in the Lake District walking, been over most of the mountains around Ambleside Grasmere, Keswick and Coniston.etc. I just wish I could do it now, those where the days. Jude, the name Sadie probably wouldn't confuse Lady so much besause it is similar sounding, you will just have to see how she is. I hope you still talk to us when you get your new furniture! Sounds very posh. I am going to have a quiet sit down now, not one of my best days. See you tomorrow Love June xx

Chris Report 13 Sep 2004 03:24

Hi everyone, Hi June, Your walks sound wonderful and I can understand how much you miss them. Never mind at least you have done them - lovely to think about. Some people's activity gets cut short with injury and some with illness. I'm very lucky to be able to still get out there and have some fun. My son bought Erika this doll that cries like a baby until you feed it. It's eyes then close and it gives about 10 snuffles then falls asleep but any movement to it - it wakes up again crying. It was is so lifelike it is a bit scary!
