Susie What a relief for you. Best wishes to you both. You know I had you running round doing lookups for this Leah Norris nee Gore. Well the plot thickens. I had some information sent to me and her maiden name turns out to be Cox!! Perhaps I need specs!!! I kept on looking at the certificate, and now it has been pointed out to me I can see it is Cox. I'm going mad...... Your theory that she may had re-married is getting me thinking. She was widowed on 1861 census for Ibstone. I had a look on the I.G.I. 1881 Census, and there is a Leah Coleman aged 54 - the right age, married to a George Coleman. It looks like they may be living in the same house, as it is near the 'Fox' public house. Would you be a sweety, and be able to do a lookup for their marriage? I understand that you are busy with your hub, so no rush Susie. Love Sarah.XX

if they did live near the Fox then they certainly lived in a beautiful area, I'd love to live there! good luck Elaine

Hi Elaine When we meet up hows about meeting there then? I do know where the 'Fox' Is. It is such a shame, because on the Census' for Ibstone it doesn't really give you a property number unless you live in a 'shed', which I have seen for some people, a 'barn' or 'the farm which is hard to find', or even funnier still 'the cottage which is next to the farm which is hard to find'!!!! I know there are quite a few modern properties in the village now. I wish I could be zapped back in time. Just long enough to check out the housing layout!!! Anyway, hows it all going with you? Are the kids keeping you busy? Daft question I suppose!!! lol!! Sarah.X

Elaine Report 4 Mar 2004 17:40

lol - we had two black dogs with us, ring any bells :) we'd started the walk through getty's estate, and ended up coming out along the common just up the road from the fox, by the time we'd reached the pub we were gasping for a drink but had no money on us! Elaine

Hi Sarah My son lives in Stoken, about 5 minutes walk away from me. He and his wife recently bought a newish house, bigger than mine, but the decor was not to their taste so he is changing it. He has also removed a small forest of cupressus trees behind which the house was hiding. However, its my 80th birthday soon and he, my wife and my daughter have arranged a celebration luncheon for me (which I don't know anything about) at a local hostelry with coffee and birthday cake afterwards at his place andhe wants it looking nice for the occasion. Susie Sorry about your husband's trauma with the angiogram. I had one a couple of years ago and it's not nice. However, the outcome is usually very good and he will be as fit as a fiddle very soon. I am Secretary to a Cardiac Support Group. If you want any booklets re the condition, just say. Elaine Have figured out who you are now - daughter of Don Swift. We have met, a long time ago but I do not expect you will remember. What news of Donna? Len

If anyone sees an old geezer with a beard walking around Christmas Common or along the A40, on the B482 or the Ibstone Road, , don't throw stones - it may be me. Len
