Know-It-Alls
by Gene Sanders

Let me tell you what would be a real treat:
A gathering of Know-It-Alls together at a meet
And with Know-It-Alls as far as you can see
Just think what the potential might come to be

Id' like to be there as a fly on the wall
To see the mayhem, bedlam, confusion and all
I can imagine them searching for a modest few
For anyone who's listen, to be repulsive to

It would be fun, but for them a great test
To find out just who is the biggest darn pest
And how long should such a meeting last?
Until all realized they are a pain-in-the-.........

Perhaps at meeting's end some few would see
How totally obnoxious a Know-It-All can be

To keep it going, one that I wrote for the writer's group a while back.

Chesil Beach

As the sun starts its descent in the sky
And the pebbles are warmed to an orange hue
As the waves tumble the stones polished and rounded
And the visitors are reduced to just a few.

As fishermen wish when they throw out their lines
And Chesil beach is sliding, shifting and clattering
As walkers descend from the cliffs overhead
And gulls overhead are shrieking and chattering.

Then peace descends on this awesome beach
Eighteen miles of pebbles varied colour and size
One narrow strip backed by tall strata cliffs
And ‘neath the stones a fossil hunter’s prize.

A part of my heart remains in this land
Where I have enjoyed such a short stay
But I will return to experience again
A peaceful and pleasurable holiday.

A SONG FOR CHRISTMAS. Let us sing a hymn of thanksgiving For that very first Christmas morn, When Jesus, our Blessed Saviour In Bethlehem was born; He came down to Earth from Heaven And there in a manger he lay Bringing peace and hope and goodwill to all men On that very first Christmas day. Three wise men travelled to see him Throughout that cold winter's night, They were led to the stable in Bethlehem By a star that was shining so bright, And they brought as offerings to Jesus Gifts of gold and incense and myhrr, Then kneeling by Joseph and Mary Gave praise to the infant laid there. So now let us thank God the Father For the wonderful gift of his love And for sending his son, Our Saviour To Earth from Heaven above; And as we all gather together To celebrate Christmas again, To the father let's sing and ask him to bring Once more peace on earth to all men. Was having a soppy cuppa having a read of these..Hope no one minds this being nudged? Am going to add my special poem, this has only ever been read by me, but today i would like to share it.. A baby in your arms your eyes filled with tears, your protective shield around me eluding my fears, holding my hand you taught me to walk, with a smile in your eyes you taught me to talk, A gentle giant you were a proud father of three, but our future together wasn't to be, Held apart by a twisted fate, i didn't understand until it was too late, I visited on occasion, not knowing what for, kissing your head as i came through the door, We played cards til late, then said goodbye, You forced a smile which was really a lie, as you body failed your will remained strong, and we hung on together our impermeable bond, You passed in the nighttime, you went in your sleep, Off up to heaven for the good Lord to keep, My heart is broken but the real reason i cry, is the fact i never said to you, I love you Daddy, goodbye. BY LOU XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX For James Alexander Yates, 1947-1990 Wind to thy wings daddy. xx

Hi Ray, Hope your health is OK? Here's a little one I wrote last week. A Poem for my Mum Your youngest grandson’s twenty five Oh how I wish you’d been alive To watch them growing up with me But you died at only twenty three. It really does seem quite uncanny My kids are older than their granny But then it’s also rather sad That I am older than my dad.

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One of these days is Yesterday with all its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone forever. The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with all its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and its poor performance; Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendour or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet to be born. This leaves only one day, Today. Any person can fight the battle of just one day. It is when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities Yesterday and Tomorrow that we break down. It is not the experience of Today that drives a person mad, it is the remorse or bitterness of something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring. Live but one day at a time.

Hope so, Jude!! 'Portrait of a Friend' I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts, or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will search for answers. I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain, nor the future with its untold stories. But I can be there now when you need me to care. I can't keep your feet from stumbling. I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall. Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine; Yet I can share in your laughter. Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge; I can only support you, encourage you, and help you when you ask. I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship, from your values, from me. I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you. I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you, But I can give you the room to change, room to grow, room to be yourself. I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting, But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces and put them back in place. I can't tell you who you are. I can only love you and be your friend. --Unknown
