I'd like to echo Simon's comment about approximate or unknown dates. Once you get back to the early 19th century, although you might be certain regarding names, some dates are pure guesswork. I'd like to be able to enter 'c' for 'about' or 'e' for 'estimate' or even simply 'unknown'.
